Bigger seems to be better when it comes to vehicle longevity, at least according to a study from automotive research firm and car search engine iSeeCars.com.
The website lists the vehicles with the greatest chance of lasting at least 200,000 miles, and only two of them are not SUVs, trucks or vans. The Toyota name also is another common denominator on the list, with the Japanese automaker boasting more than half of the top 15 vehicles.

15. Toyota Sienna
Vehicles that last more than 200,000 miles: 3.2%
The newest version of this minivan, suited to seven or eight passengers depending on the model, gets an estimated 36 miles per gallon, according to Toyota. The 2022 model was named a Best Buy Award Winner by Kelley Blue Book.
14. Honda Odyssey
Vehicles that last more than 200,000 miles: 3.2%
The Odyssey has seating for eight and includes “Magic Slide” second-row seats and an optional rear entertainment system. U.S. News & World Report named the Odyssey the “Best Minivan for the Money” and “Best Minivan for Families” for 2022, and the vehicle won safety honors from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
13. Honda Ridgeline
Vehicles that last more than 200,000 miles: 3.7%
Current Ridgeline models are available in a cool array of colors — “crystal black pearl,” “radiant red metallic II” and “obsidian blue pearl” — to name a few. The 2023 version can also tow up to 5,000 pounds with its V-6 engine.
12. GMC Yukon
Vehicles that last more than 200,000 miles: 3.7%
The SLE model of this full-size SUV can seat up to nine people, and both the SLE and SLT can tow up to 8,400 pounds with the proper engine and towing package. But all that capability isn’t cheap — base models start at about $57,000.
11. Toyota Highlander Hybrid
Vehicles that last more than 200,000 miles: 3.8%
Adding electric power to the mix enables the Highlander Hybrid to get 36 miles per gallon in the city and 35 mpg on the highway. The vehicle was also an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick+ for 2022.
10. Toyota Prius
Vehicles that last more than 200,000 miles: 3.9%
Karl Brauer, iSeeCars executive analyst, touts the Prius’ “low maintenance costs and high fuel efficiency.” The 2022 model of this hybrid vehicle boasts an impressive 58 miles per gallon in the city and 53 mpg on the highway, according to Toyota.
9. Toyota Avalon
Vehicles that last more than 200,000 miles: 3.9%
Kelley Blue Book named the 2020 Avalon as having the “Best Full-Size Car Resale Value,” thanks to being “roomy and refined, tech-forward yet still simple enough.” The 2022 model gets 22 miles per gallon in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. Toyota is discontinuing the Avalon brand with the 2022 model.
8. Toyota Tundra
Vehicles that last more than 200,000 miles: 4.0%
The 2023 version of the Tundra can tow up to 12,000 pounds and boasts a payload of nearly a ton. The 2022 model was named “Best Resale Value” in its class by Kelley Blue Book.
7. Chevrolet Tahoe
Vehicles that last more than 200,000 miles: 4.4%
Consumer research, data and analytics firm J.D. Power deemed the Tahoe as tied for No. 1 with the GMC Yukon in the Best Large SUVs of 2022 category, thanks in part to fuel economy and voice assistance. The Tahoe can also adjust its suspension depending on road conditions, even adjusting vehicle height to provide more clearance.
6. Ford Expedition
Vehicles that last more than 200,000 miles: 4.5%
The Expedition allows for a lot of recreational adventures, with seating for eight, large cargo space and strong towing capability. But you’ll pay for it — the cheapest model sells for more than $53,000, and the most expensive one goes for more than $80,000.
5. Toyota 4Runner
Vehicles that last more than 200,000 miles: 4.6%
To honor the 4Runner’s four decades of service, Toyota is offering a 40th Anniversary Special Edition in 2023, featuring 1980s-era tri-color striped exterior graphics. The 4Runner gets an estimated 16 miles per gallon in the city and 19 mpg on the highway.
4. GMC Yukon XL
Vehicles that last more than 200,000 miles: 5.2%
The Yukon XL — a larger version of the SLE and SLT — is one of the longest SUVs on the market at 225.2 inches, or nearly 19 feet long. Pretty much everything about this vehicle is big, including its seating capacity (nine) and gas tank capacity (28 gallons).
3. Chevrolet Suburban
Vehicles that last more than 200,000 miles: 6.6%
Named “Best Large SUV for Families” two years in a row by U.S. News & World Report, the Suburban can seat up to nine with certain options and boasts “best in class max cargo volume.”
2. Toyota Sequoia
Vehicles that last more than 200,000 miles: 14.2%
Vehicle longevity jumps way up at No. 2, with the Sequoia more than twice as likely to reach 200,000 miles as the No. 3 Chevrolet Suburban. Brauer calls the Sequoia “a capable family hauler that endures demanding use while towing heavy loads.”
1. Toyota Land Cruiser
Vehicles that last more than 200,000 miles: 18.2%
The 2021 model was the final one for the Land Cruiser, which was discontinued by Toyota. But with better than 18% of them reaching 200,000 miles or more, we will be seeing plenty of them on the road and in used-car lots for years. Brauer says the “Land Cruiser is engineered to last at least 25 years, even under the harshest of driving conditions.”
