THC candy sickened Charles County middle schooler, cops say

A Charles County student was taken to a hospital as a precaution after police say he ate a THC candy, prompting an investigation.

CHARLES COUNTY, Md. — A student at Glymont Middle School fell ill when they ate a gummy candy containing cannabis, according to law enforcement in Charles County.

Police say a 13-year-old was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

A school resource officer determined that other students were involved and initiated an investigation that included a search of students’ lockers.

According to law enforcement, administrative officials discovered a cell-phone-shaped stun gun in another 13-year-old student’s locker, and marijuana was found in a locker belonging to a 14-year-old.

A bag of THC gummies was also recovered from a trash can after a 13-year-old was seen disposing of it.

They say no other students reported feeling ill.

Law enforcement is urging parents to speak to their children about the dangers of ingesting unknown substances.

They say civil citations are pending and the incidents remain under investigation.
