Teen killed in horrific Brooklyn Heights car wreck: NYPD

An 18-year-old girl died early Friday following a horrific two-car crash in Brooklyn Heights, police said.

The teen was traveling in a Honda with two other women about 3:30 a.m. when the car collided with a Mercedes Benz with a man and a woman inside at the corner of Atlantic Ave. and Court St., police said.

The crash left both cars mangled wrecks, witnesses told police.

The driver of the Mercedes Benz, a 25-year-old man, managed to crawl out of the destroyed luxury car and run off on foot, but he was apprehended a short time later.

EMS took everyone to New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hosptial where the teen died. The other women she was with, as well as the driver and passenger of the other vehicle, were all expected to survive.

Charges against the driver who ran from the scene were pending Friday.
