Over the weekend, the Midnights singer and her boyfriend Travis Kelce showed up to a holiday party in Kansas City, MO wearing what appeared to be matching holiday sweaters. In a photo shared by a fan on social media, Kelce’s back is turned to the camera but Taylor is seen wearing her sweatshirt as she mingles with fellow partygoers. The design on Taylor’s sweater appears to feature a squirrel wearing a Santa hat, which many are already interpreting as a cheeky reference to Kelce’s now-viral “squirle” tweet.
The tweet, which was originally shared back in April 2011, was resurfaced by fans after the NFL star started dating the 1989 (Taylor’s Version) singer earlier this year. In the tweet, which you can see below, Kelce misspelled the word “squirrel” as he recalls feeding one of these small woodland creatures a piece of bread. “I just gave a squirle a peice of bread and it straight smashed all of it!!!!” the message read. “I had no idea they ate bread like that!! Haha #crazy.”
Over on social media, fans of the couple have been giddy over the thought of Taylor poking fun at Kelce’s squirrel tweet. “UHM?! TAYLOR SWIFT?! TRAVIS KELCE?! WEARING MATCHING SQUIRREL SWEATERS?! AT A CHRISTMAS PARTY?!” one social media user wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Taylor Swift’s squirrel sweater wasn’t the only fun getup at the holiday party. Kelce’s teammate Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, were both at the event and were pictured wearing adorable reindeer onesies. Brittany took to Instagram to share a photo from the night alongside Patrick, his teammate Blake Bell, and his wife Lyndsey, who also wore matching Christmas tree onesies. “Falalalalalalalalala,” Brittany captioned the post.
Taylor’s appearance at the holiday party came just one day after she flew to England to join Beyoncé at the premiere of her Renaissance concert film. She spent less than a day in London before heading back to Kansas City, just in time for the ugly sweater party with Travis. And this is just the start of their holiday plans: according to Us Weekly, the couple already has a schedule laid out for the rest of the year.
“They have very detailed plans coming up while she’s on tour and he has games. Taylor and Travis have the next few months completely laid out,” an insider told the site. “They don’t want to start their relationship off with big gaps [in time spent apart]. They’re trying to be as much like a regular couple as possible.”
