  • I Went on an H&M Deep Dive—30 Under-$50 Items I’m Losing It Over

I Went on an H&M Deep Dive—30 Under-$50 Items I’m Losing It Over

    [ad_1]

Whenever I’m looking for a quick and affordable fashion pick-me-up, I immediately go to H&M. The clothing company always has something chic I can buy to quickly satisfy my shopping urge—and, most of the time, the pieces I pick garner me tons of compliments. Now that it’s officially spring in New York City, those of us who spent winter bundled up inside are more than ready to get back outside for days at the park, weekend brunches, and more.

With warm weather on the way, my wardrobe needed something new for all the fun spring and summer events I’ve planned. Naturally, I had to check out what H&M had to offer. Because I wanted to do a full haul, I told myself to only focus on items priced at $50 or less. To my surprise, I found so many really chic pieces. I found dresses perfect for rooftop season, tops I can wear all season long, and sandals that look cute and comfortable.

Keep scrolling to see the affordable H&M pieces I love right now.

  • Jennifer Lawrence Wore the Runway Trend I Always Find at H&M for $30

Jennifer Lawrence Wore the Runway Trend I Always Find at H&M for $30

    [ad_1]

Even if you don’t work in fashion or its surrounding entities, I can almost guarantee you’ve seen a picture of a flannel-clad Kate Moss walking in Bottega Veneta’s S/S 23 show at some point in the last seven or so months. Casual and cool but wildly elevated, Moss’s look did more for flannel than Mr. Brawny ever could (thanks in part to other looks from the collection that featured the same woodsy staple). And now that spring has finally arrived, we’re starting to see the online popularity of flannel play out in real life.

Case in point: Earlier this week, Jennifer Lawrence was spotted walking in New York City with Cooke Maroney, her husband of nearly four years. On that walk, Lawrence was wearing a simple jeans-and-tee look elevated with Alaïa sunglasses, sold-out Adidas Sambas, and a gray-and-black flannel similar to styles that rocked the runways back in September with their simple yet alluring qualities. Though I’ve yet to determine the designer responsible for Lawrence’s perfectly cropped flannel, her affinity for luxurious labels like The Row and Alaïa leads me to believe it likely won’t come cheap. But then I remembered how large the flannel offering was, and always has been, at H&M, and I couldn’t resist looking for an affordable alternative. Below, find the $30 flannels I found at H&M that’ll get you Lawrence’s look at a great price.

All of my hesitation to shop for spring was washed away this week when the temperature hit 60° and the sun finally showed face in NYC. I feel like a new woman—I want to wear color again, I’m switching up my beauty routine, and I’ve made space in my closet for some new arrivals. The items I want to purchase include a gorgeous linen halter top, silver wedge sandals, and some beauty products that feel just as luxe as they look. Investing in the pieces on my wish list may require a bit more spring cleaning on my part (and that mid-month paycheck to hit my bank account), but I do believe it’s well worth it. The following pieces are a mix of trendy (e.g. a linen maxi skirt) and timeless (e.g. editor-approved eyewear), and they’ll be easy additions to anyone’s spring wardrobe. • My 59-Year-Old Mom Asked Me What She Should Buy From Nordstrom—I Said These

My 59-Year-Old Mom Asked Me What She Should Buy From Nordstrom—I Said These

    [ad_1]

Unlike me, who hasn’t quite figured out how to stop shopping, my mom hardly ever treats herself. Ever since she moved from L.A. to a small beach town in Michigan a few years back, the temptation that comes with living near countless shopping destinations is gone, and she rarely shops online. So when she texted me the other day with plans to go into Chicago for the weekend and asked me for ideas of what to get at Nordstrom (where I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, Nordstrom is the mecca for just about everything), I was noticeably shocked. Well, shocked and excited. Because the only thing I love more than treating myself is convincing others to do the same.

Naturally, I dropped everything and started researching. We basically had an informational interview, during which she walked me through the missing pieces in her wardrobe; the jeans, dress, and shoe styles she leans toward most; and the brands she’s been loyal to for years. Then, I got to work.

One too many hours later—I tend to get carried away—the shopping list below was born and subsequently given an excited checkmark from my mom. She saved a version to her phone to reference while at Nordstrom. I turned mine into this story. Below, find a comprehensive list of all the items I put on my 59-year-old mom’s Nordstrom shopping list. If I had to guess, I’d wager they’ll be on yours, too.

  • I’m Aiming to Be More Experimental—8 Outfits Pushing Me Out of My Comfort Zone

I’m Aiming to Be More Experimental—8 Outfits Pushing Me Out of My Comfort Zone

    [ad_1]

I could live in baggy pants and a basic white tee for the rest of my life (and I do most of the time), but why play it safe when there are so many great trends to try out? At least that’s my perspective right now as we edge closer toward warmer weather. Outfit formulas are super useful and a great tool to lean on if you’re building out your wardrobe, but wearing the same combinations day in and day out can become stale. That’s precisely why I’m challenging myself to venture outside of the sartorial box to try trends and outfits I normally wouldn’t go for.

It’s not easy to instantly change the way I think about getting dressed, so I assembled a collection of outfits to help me be more experimental. They range from fresh outfit pairings (ie a dress and baggy pants) to quirky accessories I’d never thought that I’d wear in a million years. To see how I’m pushing my own style boundaries, keep scrolling for 8 unexpected outfits inspiring me now.

  • Stranger Things Star Natalia Dyer Shares the 4 Trends She’s Loving for Spring

Stranger Things Star Natalia Dyer Shares the 4 Trends She’s Loving for Spring

    [ad_1]

If you’ve already binge-watched the entirety of Stranger Things season four, then chances are you’re familiar with Natalia Dyer—the actress best known for playing Nancy Wheeler in the suspenseful Netflix sci-fi horror series. I’ve personally been devouring her retro-cool looks on the show from the very beginning—an eye-catching array of corduroy, shearling jackets, high-waisted jeans, mohair sweaters and retro sneakers—pretty much convincing me to revisit the ’80s preppy looks in my own wardrobe. Of course, I’ve been curious how much Natalia’s style differs off screen.

Luckily, I got the chance to sit down with the Nashville-raised, NYC-dwelling actress, at the launch of Longchamp’s spring/summer 2023 collection. She’s started working closely with the luxury French heritage brand in recent years and has become enamored with its effortlessly chic offerings. At the Santa Monica rooftop where we’re sitting she wears a head-to-toe vibrant poppy-hued Longchamp outfit and their latest Box-Trot handbag in bright pink—quite the contrast from her Nancy Wheeler outfits I’m used to seeing on the show. We chat about her everyday style which always errs on the side of comfort. I think I fall a little more in love with the down-to-earth actress when she tells me she’s been wearing casual Dickies pants almost every day and is a huge fan of Etsy—where she hunts for Victorian-inspired blouses and vintage pieces that are inspiring her at any given moment.

So what trends is the Stranger Things star excited for this season? From retro sneakers to flowy dresses, keep scrolling for the styles she tells me she’s loving right now.

Move Over, Mini Bags—This Style Is Taking Over Our Wardrobes

    [ad_1]

You can always find me with black accessories no matter the season. Don’t get me wrong—I love a pop of color here and there, but when I’m investing in a piece, I like to buy it in a shade that’s going to go with most items in my closet. I felt immediately drawn to this bag since it’s such a classic shape with gorgeous lines that will immediately elevate any outfit. This spring, I’m envisioning it with some cream-colored, wide-leg linen pants, a pretty white tank top, black sandals, and a little silk scarf. (The top handle is giving off a luxe vibe, and the scarf would definitely top it off.)— Anneliese Dominguez, editor

Meghan Markle and Rosie HW Both Own This $890 Khaite Top, so I Found a $78 Dupe

    [ad_1]

Some pieces are just so good they’re worth the splurge. And while this off-the-shoulder Khaite top favored by both Meghan Markle and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is undoubtedly one of them, we’re not trying to spend our entire spring shopping budget on just one piece.

Fortunately, for those of us that have a duchess-level taste on a commoner’s budget, there’s always Reformation. The brand’s Ezlynn Knit Top evokes similar vibes to the Khaite design,  including a lightweight jersey fabric and a beautiful portrait neckline. Plus, it comes in white, black, and gray-blue, so you could buy all three for less than the cost of the original design… just saying.

Ahead, compare the $890 Khaite top with the $78 dupe, plus seven more cute tops under $100 from Reformation available now. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with these spring-friendly finds.

My 63-Year-Old Mom and I Both Love the New J.Crew—29 Items That Get a Yes

    [ad_1]

My mom and I have been longtime fans of J.Crew. I have very fond memories of perusing the store at my local mall during the holidays and trying on our favorite pieces. Well, our adoration for the brand is even more powerful these days with the latest collections with Olympia Gayot (pictured above) at the helm of womenswear and kids. It should also be mentioned that while there is a 29-year age difference between us (I’m 34 and she’s 63), we both tend to gravitate towards similar pieces that fit within our wardrobes that are primarily made up of elevated basics. Given that age has nothing to do with what you shouldn’t wear, this shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.

We went through the latest offering and each pulled out what spoke to us most. The edit of the pieces that got a “yes” from us are below. You’ll notice everything from beautiful tailoring silhouettes to chic button-down shirts that could become new staples to darling spring separates. Keep scrolling for more.

  • 6 Items That Went So Viral They Already Sold Out—30 Alts I’m Buying Instead

6 Items That Went So Viral They Already Sold Out—30 Alts I’m Buying Instead

    [ad_1]

These days, it can feel like the viral cycle moves on a 24-hour basis, with new It items rising to peak popularity so fast, it’s close to impossible to ever even get your hands on them before the masses do, leading to a complete sell out. Even when an item has a high price tag that, for most people, would call for months of budgeting, somehow, every retailer will sell out of it in days—sometimes even hours—and either take months to restock it or never bring it back at all. In such cases, if you want to get in on the trend, you have to get creative.

My solution, at least when I’ve tried and failed to find the exact item in my size on the secondhand market, is to dig through the internet for worthwhile alternatives that will allow me to check the trend off my list without the real thing. Yes, it takes work, especially if you want to find a proper substitute. Nonetheless, I’m almost always able to stumble upon a resolution.

This week, following my own search for alts of the spring items I want but can’t have (probably because they went viral somewhere on the internet), I decided it was only right to share my findings. Ahead, discover 6 sold-out (or almost sold-out) items and the many alternatives I believe are just as worth spending money on. Don’t take too long to shop them, though, as history proves that they, like their predecessors, won’t last long.

Nordstrom Just Got So Much New Stock—I’m Freaking Out About These Pieces

    [ad_1]

One of the hazards of being a fashion editor is the constant temptation to add all (and I mean all) the pieces I come across to my virtual cart. Such is the case every time I check the new arrivals section at Nordstrom—My latest perusal was no exception. It is no surprise, though, since Nordy consistently has a great selection of pieces land on their site every week that cater to a variety of personal styles at different price points.

This time around I was excited to find a range of lovely elevated basics including a French-girl worthy ribbed t-shirt, chic linen shorts, classic flats, and the perfect trench coat. I also came across some cool trendy pieces that are guaranteed  conversation starters like a bright matching checkered set, rhinestone boots, baggy jeans, and a sleek corset top. • 7 Outdated Spring Trends We’re Leaving Behind and Their Timeless Replacements

7 Outdated Spring Trends We’re Leaving Behind and Their Timeless Replacements

    [ad_1]

No one loves the phrase “spring cleaning” like a team of fashion editors. We’re trained to have an “out with the old and in with the new” mindset when it comes to our wardrobes. The best way to have good style is to edit your wardrobe down to select pieces that feel effortlessly chic. Allow me to set an example. If you have 5 pairs of white jeans, keep the 3 that actually fit you well and look great to avoid looking frumpy on days when you grab your least favorite pair just because you haven’t worn them in a few months’ time.

Right now, I’m convincing all of my friends that if something doesn’t work or feel on-trend anymore, get rid of it. Make space for things that bring you joy. With that being said though, I’m all about sustainable practices so when I asked my coworkers for their thoughts on a spring wardrobe refresh I insisted that they suggest replacements that are absolutely timeless. I’m at a point with my closet where I’m only interested in buying into things that will last me for years to come and that’s how you should be too. Below, find the 7 things our editors are replacing their trend-driven and outdated pieces with.

We all have seen the recent come back of the classic mall brand Abercombie take over our TikTok feeds with try on hauls and unboxing videos. After months of watching on the sidelines I decided to take a deep dive into the Abercrombie website and see for myself what new things they have in store for spring and summer. J.Crew’s Entire Site is 40% Off—You’ll Regret Skipping These 21 New Arrivals

    [ad_1]

Yes, you read that right. 40% off of nearly the entire J.Crew site. This, ladies and gentlemen, is definitely not a drill. To ring in the arrival of spring, the retailer is putting every full-priced item on their site on sale and, yes, that includes some of its prettiest and most exciting new arrivals. You won’t want to miss out on the Kelly green bouclé jacket that will freshen up all your jeans, the crystal-embellished kitten heels that are already making my jaw drop, or the knitted tee that gives major “Chanel girl” energy.

J.Crew is no stranger to a good sale moment, but their move to mark down everything by 40% is pretty major, and I wouldn’t sleep on it if I were you. I went through what felt like every last product page to source the very best items you need to see.
