    After taking a brief paws, we’re into the home stretch of the Miami Herald Cutest Pet Contest.

    The final round of voting is now open, so take a look at the contestants and cast your vote for your favorite cat and dog in South Florida.

    Here’s what to know about voting:

    Pick your favorite from among the submissions.

    Voting for Round 2 begins at noon Thursday, Oct. 23.

    Second-round voting ends at 11:59 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27.

    What happens for the winners?

    Your final choice of a top dog and a top cat will be featured in a Miami Herald story. And the winners will be entered into a national Cutest Pet contest.

    Remember: This isn’t a scientific survey — it’s just for fun.

    The winner will be announced at noon Monday, Nov. 3.
