  • Beverly D’Angelo admits to unscripted ‘Christmas Vacation’ moment with Chevy Chase that made movie history

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Beverly D’Angelo took matters into her own hands and made movie history.

After “National Lampoon’s Vacation” (1983) and “National Lampoon’s European Vacation” (1985), the Griswolds returned to deliver more chaos in 1989’s “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.” The film starred D’Angelo and Chevy Chase, along with Randy Quaid, Juliette Lewis and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, among others.

D’Angelo is ringing in the new year with plenty in store for fans. She stars alongside Hayden Panettiere in the upcoming 2026 psychological thriller “Sleepwalker.” She recently followed it up with “The Heart Brake,” in which she turns a property into a Christmas bed-and-breakfast called the Noel Hotel.

But when the holidays roll around, D’Angelo still looks back at the film that keeps on giving — and the moment she made her own.

“It was not in the script for me to guard the family jewels when the police came to stick us up,” the actress told Fox News Digital. “I threw that in. That was definitely improvised. That was my little touch. All in one take.”

In the film, a police officer orders everyone gathered for the Griswold family Christmas to freeze. A stunned Ellen (D’Angelo) suddenly grabs Clark’s (Chase) crotch and stands still, obeying the command.

“We had one take left, and it was the end of the day,” D’Angelo recalled. “I said, ‘I bet nobody catches this.’ We did the shot, freeze, and I put my hand there. It was like, ‘OK, that’s a wrap. Everybody go home.’ It was subtle. And it had to stay in the film because it was the only shot left! What are they going to do? They didn’t have a choice.”

Chase was in on the joke.

It was a long day of filming, and the star was eager to have some fun. D’Angelo tipped off Chase about what she was going to do. He agreed — before quickly adding, “You can’t do that,” convinced she’d never get away with it, Forbes reported.

“I guarantee you no one’s going to be looking at my hand,” she told him, as quoted by the outlet. “Everybody’s going to be looking at your face and Randy’s [Quaid] face and the expressions. I’m going to be way down below your waist, and the director’s not even looking at me. He’s just trying to get you guys good, get this take.”

It worked — and if you blink, you’ll miss it.

“Well, what would you do in that situation?” D’Angelo told Fox News Digital. “You would guard the family jewels, first and foremost.”

D’Angelo, 74, noted that she and Chase, 82, became fast friends from the moment they met on set. That bond has endured for decades.

“I knew from the beginning I’d have a lifelong friendship with Chevy,” D’Angelo explained. “It was just like meeting a brother. We’ve kept that connection all the way, decades later. I just had a feeling when we met that we would be a tribe. I can’t explain it, except there’s just something about when Chevy and I get together.”

“There’s a chemistry we can create,” she shared. “We have a chemistry, we get each other. And then, we can easily flip into Clark and Ellen. It’s just something. I can’t explain it. It doesn’t happen with anybody else. He makes me Ellen, and I make him Clark when we work together. It’s very natural. We just know.”

Despite their instant connection, D’Angelo admitted she didn’t expect them to cross paths again after the first film.

“When we did the first ‘Vacation,’ it was just a summer movie,” said D’Angelo. “That concept of a franchise arrived much later. We only made the second one because the first one was such a hit. And then ‘Christmas’ was just as successful as the very first one, which is unusual. So, when I went in to meet Chevy, I just thought I was doing a Chevy Chase comedy that was going to be done after ‘Animal House.’”

“I had some hesitations about it,” she noted. “There are these old rules — never work with kids and animals. And there were a lot of kids and animals. Plus, I was the mother of teenagers, and I was 29 when we did that. I was even suggesting actresses to my agent. ‘Tell them to meet this person, that person.’ Just actress friends that I thought would be good. But it was my husband at the time — I was married to an Italian duke, actually — and he said, ‘But Beverly, this is hilarious! You must do it.’”

“That was that,” she continued. “I was in Italy when a friend of mine called me, and he said, ‘Do you know you’re in the number one movie this week?’ It was the first ‘Vacation.’ It just kept growing. It seems to be part of our whole culture now. For so many people, it’s part of their Christmas ritual. I don’t know what to say, except to quote myself and say, ‘It’s Christmas. We’re all in misery.’”

Making “Christmas Vacation” wasn’t always easy. It reminded D’Angelo of one of her past rules.

“The squirrel that jumped out of the tree? That squirrel was trained by professional animal trainers,” said D’Angelo about the unforgettable scene from “Christmas Vacation.”

“It was trained to leap out of the tree and onto Chevy’s shoulder, and onto somebody else’s shoulder. It was trained to do all these tricks. They really, really trained it.”

“They did a fantastic job to the point that the squirrel had a heart attack or something,” she claimed. “Something happened to the squirrel. So when it came time to shoot, they had to quickly find another squirrel. They got a relatively wild one, certainly not trained to do all the tricks that the original squirrel had been able to do. So they do have a live squirrel leaping out of the tree, but everything else is a stuffed squirrel.”

However unruly the making of “Christmas Vacation” may have been, D’Angelo knows it’s become a holiday classic — and she’s grateful.

“Here’s the thing about Christmas,” she said. “Of course, when you have children, it becomes important. I was never a big holiday person, per se. I don’t even like to celebrate my birthday, to tell you the truth. I don’t like all the attention. But it’s that spirit of giving, it’s a wonderful thing to always be engaged in.”

  • 30 Times The “Harry Potter” Cast Addressed J.K. Rowling’s Anti-Trans Views

In 2022, Jason Isaacs told The Telegraph, “I don’t want to get drawn into the trans issues, talking about them, because it’s such an extraordinary minefield.”

He added that J.K. Rowling “has her opinions, I have mine. They differ in many different areas. But one of the things that people should know about her too – not as a counter-argument – is that she has poured an enormous amount of her fortune into making the world a much better place, for hundreds of thousands of vulnerable children, through her charity Lumos. And that is unequivocally good. Many of us Harry Potter actors have worked for it, and seen on the ground the work that they do. So for all that she has said some very controversial things, I was not going to be jumping to stab her in the front – or back – without a conversation with her, which I’ve not managed to have yet.”

In 2025, he told Vulture he’d only met J.K. Rowling “once for about two minutes”.

“People want me to talk about J.K Rowling’s attitude to trans people all the time,” he said. “And initially, I went, ‘I don’t know her well enough, and I’m a straight white man in late middle age, and it’s not for me to opine on feminist and trans issues.’ But then I championed this fabulous trans comedian, Jordan Gray, and wrote about her, and I suddenly became a poster boy for trans rights. It was interpreted as me putting the knife into Jo, and it wasn’t. I don’t understand who she is on Twitter. But then that’s true of almost anybody online. It’s a place where people scream abuse at each other. And I’ve heard her arguments when she explained herself in that seven-part podcast, The Witch Trials of J.K Rowling, which I listened to. She says in that something like, ‘I may be on the wrong side of history, but this is what I feel very strongly.’ It’s not my argument or discussion to have. But if there’s a vote, I know which side I’ll be voting.”

  • The Best Documentaries of 2025

The documentary often gets a bad rap. Maybe you watched a few boring (or prescriptive) ones in school, in which talking heads drone on about what you ought to think or feel. However, despite its reputation as constrained retelling—emphasis on the “telling”—the medium also offers storytellers practically limitless formal flexibility, and the power to show us reality in dazzling new hues.

This was a year of numerous stunning nonfiction releases, as well as many festival premieres of works yet to be distributed. When viewing them in unison, it’s clear that the medium’s stylistic and thematic ingenuity could not be in better hands. These 25 films from 2025, hailing from all across the globe, represent the very best of what documentary cinema has to offer.

  • Melora Hardin Details Why She Was Fired From Back to the Future

The Office’s Melora Hardin detailed the aftermath of being fired from Back to the Future after shooting weeks of footage as Marty McFly’s love interest.

Back to the Future was a huge disappointment. I was 17, you know. I burst into tears,” Hardin, 58, told Entertainment Weekly in an interview published on Monday, December 22. “It was very sad. There were quite a few of those that I remember, you know, things that never really got made. But that I remember being very tough.”

Hardin had initially been cast in the role of Jennifer Parker opposite Eric Stoltz’s Marty for the 1985 sci-fi film. But when Stoltz was let go and replaced by Michael J. Fox, Hardin found herself also getting the boot, thanks to having a few inches of height on the Family Ties star.

“It was apparently the two female executives at the time that thought that it was emasculating for their lead male character to be in scenes with a woman that was taller than him,” Hardin claimed to EW earlier this year. She noted, however, that things ultimately turned out for the best. “If I had done it, I’m sure it would have all gone in a different way. I wouldn’t have done The Office,” she told the outlet at the time.

While speaking to EW on Monday, Hardin doubled down on her positive outlook, explaining that it was essential to have “failed more than you’ve succeeded” in order to get where she is in the industry. “I think people don’t realize that when they look at it from the outside — you have to really be somebody who’s comfortable with failure, and with putting yourself on the line all the time,” she said. “That failure doesn’t mean anything about you. You just have to fail better, and keep failing better … to be able to really weather this career choice.”

As for the role of Jennifer, Claudia Wells was ultimately cast in the role before Elisabeth Shue took over the part for the subsequent sequels. Fox, meanwhile, starred in all three of blockbusters.

In his 2025 memoir, Future Boy: Back to the Future and My Journey Through the Space-Time Continuum, Fox revealed that he was the original choice for Marty but NBC blocked him from taking the role, wanting him to instead concentrate on his sitcom. But when Back to the Future director Robert Zemeckis and cowriter Bob Gale weren’t convinced that Stoltz was right for the part due to his more dramatic acting approach, they swung back to Fox.

    Universal/courtesy Everett Collection

“Unfortunately, the dailies were disappointing,” Fox wrote of Stoltz’s early version of Back to the Future. “Eric was an immensely talented actor, but the creative team felt that he just wasn’t the right fit for Marty McFly.”

Stoltz, for his part, has kept largely silent on the casting drama over the years, but did subtly address the situation during a 2007 interview with Moviehole.

“I rarely look back, if at all, but in retrospect, I think just getting through that difficult period helped me realize how freeing it really was,” he said. “I went back to acting school, I moved to Europe, I did some plays in New York and I actually invested in myself in a way that was much healthier for me. I would’ve been unable to walk down the street! It’s a whole different life. I was lucky in that way.”

    Back to the Future

Related: ‘Back to the Future’ Turns 40! Where Is the Cast Now?

“Great Scott!” Back to the Future debuted in theaters in July 1985 — and has been a major pop culture staple ever since. Michael J. Fox stars as teenager Marty McFly, who travels back in time from 1985 to 1955 with eccentric scientist Dr. Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd) and meets his parents as high school […]

Fox revealed in his memoir that he has reached out to Stoltz about his book and the pair met up at his home, where they “immediately fell into an easy dialogue about our careers, families and yes, our own trips through the space-time continuum.” They have since “maintained a friendly correspondence,” bonding over being actors and dads, talking about politics and movies they’ve seen.

“What transpired on Back to the Future had not made us enemies or fated rivals; we were just two dedicated actors who had poured equal amounts of energy into the same role,” Fox shared in his memoir. “The rest had nothing to do with us.”

  • Rob Reiner and wife Michele’s loved ones gather a week after deaths as son faces murder charges

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Close friends and family are continuing to mourn the deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele.

On Sunday, just one week after Nick Reiner was arrested for murdering his parents in their Brentwood, California, home, Lucas Reiner — the brother of the late Hollywood director — was photographed arriving at their sister Annie’s Los Angeles home along with various friends and family members.

The extended family members were seen hugging one another as they gathered together.

On Sunday, Dec. 14, police discovered the bodies of Rob and Michele in the primary bedroom of their home in Brentwood, California. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiners’ office later said that they died due to multiple sharp force injuries.

Nick was quickly named a person of interest in the investigation, and hours later, around 9:15 p.m. local time that same day, he was arrested.

The night before the murders, family friends of the Reiners told the Los Angeles Times that Nick got into an argument with his parents at O’Brien’s Christmas party. Many people noticed Nick was behaving strangely, according to the outlet.

“Nick was freaking everyone out, acting crazy, kept asking people if they were famous,” a source also told People magazine.

On Dec. 16, authorities charged Nick in the double homicide of his parents. He was charged with two counts of first-degree murder with a special circumstance of multiple murders.

“He also faces a special allegation that he personally used a dangerous and deadly weapon, that being a knife,” Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said during a press conference. “These charges carry a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole, or the death penalty.”

No decision has been made on whether prosecutors will seek the death penalty.

However, if the death penalty is pursued, Nick would not be executed due to the moratorium instituted by California Governor Gavin Newsom in 2019.

While the executive order did not repeal capital punishment in California, it has halted all executions indefinitely, Oakland criminal defense lawyer Jo-Anna Nieves told Fox News Digital.

“The executive order issued by Gavin Newsom halted executions, closed the execution chamber at San Quentin, and paused lethal-injection protocols, but it did not repeal the death penalty or invalidate death sentences imposed by courts,” Nieves said. “California still has the death penalty on the books, and prosecutors are legally permitted to seek it in eligible cases.”

“Practically speaking, even if prosecutors pursue the death penalty against Nick Reiner and obtain a conviction and death sentence, no execution would occur under the current moratorium,” she added. “The sentence would legally exist, but its enforcement would remain suspended unless the moratorium is lifted by a future governor or the law is changed through legislation or voter action.”

The moratorium, however, could be overturned once a new governor is elected in 2026.

During Tuesday’s press conference, Hochman also told reporters that they will take the “thoughts and desires of the family into consideration” when it comes to Nick’s sentencing.

  • Rob Reiner and wife Michele’s kids ‘grateful for the outpouring of love,’ announce future memorial service

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Rob and Michele Reiner’s children Romy and Jake have spoken out about their parents, just one week after their sibling Nick was arrested and charged with two counts of murder.

“Jake and Romy Reiner remain grateful for the outpouring of love and support they have received,” their spokesperson shared with People magazine.

“They will share information about a memorial service honoring their parents at a later date,” the spokesperson added.

Their latest statement comes after Romy and Jake broke their silence on Dec. 17, three days after their parent’s murder.

“Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends,” they told People last Wednesday.

“We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life. We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave,” they added.

OBAMAS PLANNED TO MEET REINERS ON NIGHT THEY WERE KILLED, FORMER FIRST LADY REVEALS

  • ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ launches with $88M domestically, $345M worldwide

NEW YORK — NEW YORK (AP) — “Avatar: Fire and Ash” opened with $345 million in worldwide sales, according to studio estimates Sunday, notching the second-best global debut of the year and potentially putting James Cameron on course to set yet more blockbuster records.

Sixteen years into the “Avatar” saga, Pandora is still abundant in box-office riches. “Fire and Ash,” the third film in Cameron’s science-fiction franchise, launched with $88 million domestically and $257 million internationally. The only film to open bigger in 2025 was “Zootopia 2” ($497.2 million over three days). In the coming weeks, “Fire and Ash” will have the significant benefit of the highly lucrative holiday moviegoing corridor.

But there was a tad less fanfare to this “Avatar” film, coming three years after “Avatar: The Way of Water.” That film launched in 2022 with a massive $435 million globally and $134 million in North America. Domestically, “Fire and Ash” fell a hefty 35% from the previous installment. Reviews for “Fire and Ash” were also more mixed, scoring a series-low 68% “fresh” score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Yet those quibbles are only a product of the lofty standards of “Avatar.” The first two films rank as two of the three biggest box-office films of all time. To reach those heights, the “Avatar” films have depended on legs more than huge openings.

“Avatar” (2009), opened with $77 million domestically but held the top spot for seven weeks. It ultimately grossed $2.92 billion worldwide. “The Way of Water” also held strong to eventually tally $2.3 billion globally.

“The openings are not what the ‘Avatar’ movies are about,” said David A. Gross, a film consultant who publishes a newsletter on box office numbers. “It’s what they do after they open that made them the no. 2 and no. 3 biggest films of all time.”

For “Fire and Ash” to follow in those footsteps, it will need robust ticket sales to continue for weeks. Working in its favor so far: strong word-of-mouth. Audiences gave it an “A” CinemaScore.

In interviews, Cameron has repeatedly said “Fire and Ash” needs to perform well for there to be subsequent “Avatar” films. (Four and five are already written but not greenlit.) These are exceptionally expensive movies to make. With a production budget of at least $400 million, “Fire and Ash” is one of the costliest movies ever made.

“James Cameron is not known for his low budget movies,” said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for Comscore. “You can’t exactly create the world of Pandora on the cheap. If you’re going to have a 3D movie, an epic film that’s three hours and 17 minutes, it’s a huge buy-in of money, time, resources, and then you have to hope the audience wants to once again go along on that ride.”

“Fire and Ash” was especially boosted by premium format showings, which accounted for 66% of its opening weekend. A narrow majority of moviegoers (56%) chose to watch it in 3D.

The “Avatar” films have always been especially popular overseas. “Fire and Ash” was strongest in China, where its $57.6 million opening weekend surpassed the two previous movies.

“Fire and Ash” didn’t have the weekend entirely to itself. A trio of other new wide releases made it into theaters in hopes of offering some counterprogramming: Lionsgate’s “The Housemaid,” Angel Studios’ “David” and Paramount Pictures’ “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants.”

In the race for second place, “David” came out on top. The animated tale of David and Goliath collected $22 million from 3,118 theaters, notching the best opening weekend for Angel Studios, the Christian-oriented studio that emerged with 2023’s surprise hit “Sound of Freedom.”

“The Housemaid,” Paul Feig’s twisty psychological thriller starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, opened with $19 million 3,015 theaters. The Lionsgate release, which cost about $35 million to make, is set up well to be one of the top R-rated options in theaters over the holidays. Based on Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel, it stars Sweeney as a woman with a troubled past who becomes a live-in maid for a wealthy family.

Trailing the pack was “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants,” which collected $16 million from 3,557 theaters. The G-rated film, based on the Nickelodeon TV series, is the first “SpongeBob” theatrical movie since 2015’s “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water.”

All of this weekend’s new films will hope the ticket sales keep rolling in over the upcoming Christmas break. Starting Dec. 25, they’ll need to contend with some new wide releases, including A24’s “Marty Supreme,” with Timothée Chalamet; Focus Features’ “Song Sung Blue,” with Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson; and Sony’s “Anaconda,” with Jack Black and Paul Rudd.

Before expanding on Christmas, “Marty Supreme” opened in six theaters over the weekend, grossing $875,000 or $145,000 per theater. That was good enough for not only the best per-theater average of the year, but the best since 2016 and a new high mark for A24. The film, directed by Josh Safdie and starring Chalamet as an aspiring table tennis player in 1950s New York, is the most expensive ever for A24.

With final domestic figures being released Monday, this list factors in the estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Comscore:

    1. “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” $88 million.

    2. “David,” $22 million.

    3. “The Housemaid,” $19 million.

    4. “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants,” $16 million.

    5. “Zootopia 2,” $14.5 million.

    6. “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2,” $7.3 million.

    7. “Wicked: For Good,” $4.3 million.

    8. “Dhurandhar,” $2.5 million.

    9. “Marty Supreme,” $875,000.

    10. “Hamnet,” $850,000.

  • Rob Reiner’s close friends and colleagues share fond memories of the late Hollywood legend

Rob Reiner’s circle was wide and eclectic, spanning comedians honing punchlines and Oscar-winning actors and filmmakers shaping Hollywood itself.

As the son of comedy legend Carl Reiner, he entered the world of entertainment early, but went on to make a name for himself as a director, filmmaker, and actor in his own right.

He’s perhaps best known for his breakout role at age 23 as Archie Bunker’s liberal son-in-law, Michael “Meathead” Stivic in the hit 1970s sitcom “All in the Family,” though others may know him more recently as Bob Day, the father of the quirky Jess Day in “New Girl.” Reiner also directed iconic films such as “The Princess Bride,” “When Harry Met Sally…,” “This is Spinal Tap,” “Stand By Me” and “A Few Good Men.”

Friends and colleagues who worked with Reiner through the years sat down with CBS News to share their personal anecdotes and fond memories of him following the news of his tragic death. Reiner and his wife, Michele, were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Dec. 14 and their son, Nick, was charged in their murders.

Here’s a look at some tributes from those who knew Reiner best, featured in “CBS News: Rob Reiner – Scenes from a Life,” a one-hour special that will be broadcast Sunday at 8:30 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.

    Albert Brooks

Albert Brooks said he’s still in disbelief over the death of his good friend, who he’s known since the pair attended drama class together at Beverly Hills High School more than 60 years ago.

“Rob was my oldest friend. It’s that simple. He’s the person that I’ve known the longest. I met him when I was 14 years old. So I’m still in that not believing it stage,” he told CBS News.

Brooks said he still finds himself dialing his pal’s number to chat, and then freezes when he realizes what he’s done.

“I know it happened, but, you know, I’m driving around and all of a sudden — I actually two days ago, I called his number,” he recalled.

    Kathy Bates

Oscar-winning actress Kathy Bates has credited Reiner with changing “the course of [her] life” by directing her unforgettable performance as Annie Wilkes in “Misery” in 1990.

“If I hadn’t done ‘Misery,’ it would be like George Bailey going back and seeing what his life would have been like if he had never been there,” she said. “I wouldn’t have had some of the friends that I have now. I wouldn’t have had the richness in my life. I quite frankly probably would have stayed in the theater and I doubt I would have had a movie career. I might have dropped out altogether.”

    Kiefer Sutherland

Kiefer Sutherland who played Lt. Jonathan Kendrick in the 1992 legal drama “A Few Good Men” said Reiner had an unforgettable presence on set as director. He recalled the tense courtroom scene where Jack Nicholson – Colonel Nathan Jessup – had to deliver his now famous line, “You can’t handle the truth!”

After the first moving take, Sutherland recalled Reiner asking Nicholson if he wanted to go again.

“No one said a word, and Rob went up to Jack Nicholson and whispered in his ear, ‘Do you want to do another one?’ And Jack Nicholson said, ‘Well, we’re here,’” Sutherland recalled. “So they did another one, and it was just as extraordinary.”

The actors planned a marathon filming day, but Sutherland said Reiner was so blown away by Nicholson’s performance that day that he sent everyone home early.

“They had planned to shoot the whole day, and Rob looked at everybody and said, ‘I couldn’t ask for anything more, so you guys all have the rest of the day off,” Sutherland said.

  • Tyler, the Creator Wants to be Tyler, the Character Actor

Tyler, the Creator has spent almost his entire life trying to be a star. From an early age he wanted to make music, and has been tunnel-visioned on that goal ever since. “I knew what I was going to do since before I was double digits, which I guess is rarer than I thought,” he tells Vanity Fair.

And Tyler has done it. The 34-year-old rapper and producer, born Tyler Gregory Okonma, spent 2025 on the blockbuster world tour for his eighth studio album, Chromakopia, and releasing his ninth studio album, Don’t Tap the Glass. He recently earned five Grammy nominations, and was named Apple Music’s artist of the year. Even as the ever-enigmatic force constantly reinvents himself, you know a Tyler, the Creator song when you hear one—and you notice his stylish, playful preppy-streetwear fashion when you see it.

It’s ironic, then, that now he’s hoping to disappear.

Tyler makes his feature film debut this month in Marty Supreme, Josh Safdie’s energetic story about an ambitious table tennis player, played by Timothée Chalamet. Tyler’s charisma translates well to the screen as he matches the frenetic energy of Darius Khondji’s camera and holds his own opposite the seasoned and sensational Chalamet. Tyler plays Wally, a taxi driver, friend of Chalamet’s Marty Mauser, and fellow table tennis player who gets pulled into Mauser’s schemes.

His greatest hope is that anyone watching him in Marty Supreme won’t see him as Tyler, the Creator, whose album they listened to on the way to the theater. Indeed, he’s even credited as Tyler Okonma in the film. “I have a face, my gap [teeth], I have a voice, I have a cadence, how I speak—it’s easy to get caught up in all that,” he says. “And of course people are going to watch it and know it’s me. But I hope that I just feel like I’m a part of the movie.”

“I wasn’t nervous at all,” says Tyler of filming Marty Supreme. “It’s my first role, so I’m not expecting it to be super good or great.”

    Courtesy of A24.

Tyler stumbled into Marty Supreme after becoming friendly with Safdie back in 2017. They met through mutual friends. When Safdie told Tyler he had a part for him, Tyler signed on without even reading the script.

On set, he’d learn his lines just before it was time for him to film a scene. “I didn’t try to memorize no lines or nothing—I’m not even going to try to put that weight or pressure on me because then that’ll fuck the scene up,” he says.

He doesn’t have stories to share about getting into character in his trailer, or the research he did to understand Wally (other than keeping in mind that “this is a dude with kids—crazy homie be getting him into shit, but he don’t have the time to dream”). He just showed up on set, much like when he takes the stage on tour—and turned it on in the moment. “It’s been so many shows that I’ve done that were incredible, some of my best performances, and like, bro, I’m asleep nine minutes before,” he says.

  • Dolph Lundgren fires back at critics of his 39-year age-gap marriage, ‘We’re all gonna be dead’ in 100 years

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Dolph Lundgren doesn’t care what people have to say about his marriage to his younger wife.

In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, the 68-year-old actor discussed his new vodka brand, Hard Cut Vodka, and addressed criticism about his marriage to Emma Krokdal, who is 39 years his junior.

“You always get haters and people say negative things about you if you’re in the public eye,” he said, while attending A Throwback Party at Puzzle in West Hollywood. “To me, age is just a number. It doesn’t really matter. I mean we’re all gonna be dead a hundred years from now — most of us anyway — and nothing will matter.”

He continued: “All that matters is that you enjoy your life, you enjoy your partner. And I think the choice of partner is one of the most important choices you can make in life. I’ve realized that. And I think Emma is the best choice for me, and I don’t care what people say.”

In a separate interview with Fox News Digital, Krokdal also spoke about their relationship, saying it’s “so special because we come from a similar place with a very similar upbringing,” with Lundgren coming from Sweden and her coming from Norway, adding that that is something they “connected on very early.” She elaborated by saying they are both “creative people” and can help each other with their different strengths and weaknesses.

When speaking about his relationship with Krokdal, the “Expend4bles” star credited her with helping “save my life with the cancer journey and turn my life around.”

Lundgren was first diagnosed with cancer in 2015, when doctors found a tumor in his kidney. While the tumor was successfully removed via surgery, doctors found new tumors on his liver and kidneys in 2020.

Despite receiving a grim prognosis, the actor sought out a second opinion and in November 2024 he announced he was cancer free.

“Going through cancer is a life-changing experience,” he explained. “So I’m NED — it’s called No Evidence of Disease — for like three years now, actually. And you know, it’s a gradual process. You at first don’t believe it. You’re still kind of in that fight-or-flight mode.”

To “get used to a new baseline,” Lundgren shared, he did “survivorship therapy,” and now has a “new way of looking at” his life and the world.

He recalled ignoring signs from his body in order to complete stunts, but says he now knows he has “to be kind to myself, not just physically but also mentally and emotionally,” and in addition to getting proper rest and eating right, he has to “give myself credit for what I’ve done.”

One thing he can give himself credit for is his role in “Rocky IV,” which celebrated its 40th anniversary in November. Looking back, Lundgren says making the movie “was a great experience.”

“It was scary and exciting at the same time, tremendous. It changed my life. So I think, yeah, on all levels it was a great experience.”

Lundgren spoke with Fox News Digital about his new vodka brand, Hard Cut Vodka, comparing the spirit to an action star, saying, “It’s hard on the outside and kind of soft and mushy on the inside.”

“I really want people to taste it ’cause it tastes so much better,” he said. “It doesn’t have that harsh taste in the back of your throat like a lot of the other vodkas do. It’s very smooth, even though it’s 90 proof, so it’s 45% alcohol. So it has a nice bite to it. So I think the main thing is we have a great product, everybody loves it. And then I think the presentation is a little tougher. It’s a little more bada– than the other vodkas.”

The movie star launched the vodka brand in March 2025.

When speaking about the brand, Krokdal said she wants people to feel “a bit nostalgic” when they drink it.

“I know how I feel when I drink it. It’s a different feeling than drinking other vodkas or other liquors, where I feel more like down,” she said. “It gives you a nice energy, it gives you a little bit of a kick. And I always have fun when I have a drink or two. You don’t have to drink that much because it’s 90 proof. So it’s a little stronger, but it’s very smooth. So it’s a nice drink. It tastes really good as well. So you can enjoy it, and it gives you a little bit of an upper, like an up feeling.”
