Positioned as a leader in digital transformation across industries, weavix™ today announced a $10 million Series A funding round from Koch Disruptive Technologies (KDT), the growth and venture arm of Koch Industries, Inc., a fellow Wichita company.

This investment will be used to accelerate the growth of the company’s communication, safety and productivity platform, along with further developments of its walt™ smart radio.

As a platform, weavix™ creates a seamless communication ecosystem enterprise-wide. Just as smartphones transformed the way people stay connected, weavix™ is leading the revolution toward smart radios, which provide greater visibility and enable better insights for entire businesses, with capabilities including Enterprise-Vital Push-to-Three (EVPT3) and other multimedia features. These capabilities allow the frontline workforce, with its global population exceeding 2.7 billion, the opportunity to communicate more effectively and reliably than with traditional analog radios.

weavix’s Internet of Workers™ platform, powered by Microsoft Azure® private multi-access edge compute (MEC) solutions, is the first of its kind to generate frontline efficiency and safety data and give executives complete visibility into their facilities. Its communication capabilities empower the global frontline workforce, which has historically been ignored by modern innovations.

This partnership with KDT will not only bring the Koch Labs® capability linking it with teams across Koch, but it will also provide access to KDT’s deep connections with Microsoft and other critical ecosystem partners, creating additional opportunities to develop innovative solutions for industrial customers.

“This investment from KDT will help us rapidly transform how the ‘hands-on’ worker becomes safer and more productive through our innovative, wearable technology,” said weavix Founder and CEO Kevin Turpin, a seasoned entrepreneur with extensive experience in industrial services. “And it’s especially exciting because we’ll have the opportunity to work alongside Koch companies as we refine and iterate new products for our growing customer base.”

Each component of the platform is designed to create a single source of truth for enterprises. Globally, weavix™ has been used to increase collaboration across facilities, enhance safety protocols, automate workflows and provide data-driven insights to maximize productivity and enable higher-value tasks.

“Kevin’s experience in industrial services, on the frontline, gave him the extensive experience required to develop a platform like weavix, which has the potential to truly improve how facilities of all sizes operate,” said KDT Managing Director Adam DeWolf. “As a benefit of Koch Labs, weavix will be able to tap into Koch’s diverse ecosystem of subject matter experts, businesses, and capabilities to grow its operations, as well as deploy technology within facilities across our businesses. • Prioritize This Tool to Increase Customer Satisfaction in a Recession

Prioritize This Tool to Increase Customer Satisfaction in a Recession

    [ad_1]

Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own.

As economists continue to debate whether or not a recession is in fact going to happen, many companies are busy developing strategic plans should this come to fruition, taking the “hurry up and wait” mentality and focusing efforts on becoming more efficient with their dollars.

The past few years have been transformative for many, and hopefully, your business has implemented some customer experience and digital transformation initiatives. Maybe you were already ahead of the curve or in more cases than not, the pandemic lit a fire under your organization as it did for many others. But if not, the good news is that it’s not too late to get started and with the economic uncertainty, now is a perfect time. The first step? Giving your customers what they really want with self-service options, which in turn will help you operate more efficiently from a digital perspective and more importantly, lead you through the potential recession.

So how is this done? Let’s take a look at what your company can (and should) be doing:

Help your customers help themselves — literally

We are all familiar with how sales used to happen: Handshakes, order forms and catalogs over lunch. This method still worked before Covid-19, but changed drastically afterward — everything went remote and many companies had no choice but to go digital if they wanted to keep up. And now with another likely economic downturn, everyone’s minds are on their wallets, which means that one of the easiest ways to level up your business and lower the cost of sales is to ensure your customers have access to self-serve options so they can get the products they need without assistance. Convenience is key, as is ease of use — for every single interaction.

It doesn’t really matter what your starting point is. Maybe you’re still employing dozens or even hundreds of field reps that are meeting face-to-face with customers, or maybe your customers use a call center where they’re helped by a rep with their product needs. The thing that matters most is where you need to go: A thoughtful digital experience tailored to your customer’s needs, accessible from anywhere to get what they need in real-time. Things that are easy should be easy. This means that if your customer wants to do something like order a product, track it or update payment information with you, they should be able to do all of those things themselves at a time and place that is most convenient for them. Therefore, creating the digital infrastructure for this is crucial. If something isn’t easy and cannot be done on its own, a customer may second guess their decision or withgo it all together — after all, budgets are tighter, so why waste time on something that isn’t convenient? Upgrading digital also means fewer sales responsibilities. However, with this lowered-cost-of-sale concept may come the logical thought, “are you suggesting we reduce the size of our sales team?”

Make sure your sales team is still providing exceptional customer service

To be clear, we are not advocating for you to make drastic changes to your sales team. In fact, quite the opposite. While we’d argue that many clients, especially the big strategic ones, should have a dedicated human being they can go to when they need something, there are always going to be long-tail customers that are perfectly happy to get set up once and from then on, use self-service for all routine smaller orders or account status questions.

Once your sales team is freed from checking inventory, providing shipping updates, and other administrative tasks, they have a lot more time to do what they’re best at: building relationships and serving your customers with an unparalleled experience that differentiates your company from others. After this is implemented, watch as your customer relationships thrive and flourish. The option of self-service options will be a huge support for your sales team and make them better at their jobs and happier at work, which means you’re far less likely to deal with retention problems – something many industries are still feeling the crunch of in a post-Covid world.

When we start working with just about any client, one of the first things we want to know is how their selling gets done, and what we can do to make it better, because, at the end of the day, this is what ultimately helps the client’s bottom line. What are the nuts and bolts of how your products are ordered to end up in your customers’ hands? While it may seem that you have bigger things to worry about in the face of economic uncertainty than changing your selling model, I’d argue there’s never been a more important time. Self-service may be the very thing that helps you weather this storm and thrive well beyond it.

G20 Summit in Bali LIVE: PM Modi meets French Prez Emmanuel Macron; visits mangrove forest

    [ad_1]

On Day 2 of the G20 Global Leaders’ Summit in Bali, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met French President Emmanuel Macron. This comes a day after PM Modi met US President Joe Biden and Indonesian President Joko Widodo. PM Modi thanked the two leaders for their commitment to support India during its presidency.

Additionally, PM Modi also met UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on the margins of the summit on Day 1. The leaders are scheduled to meet on the second day to hold talks. The UK also green-lighted an immigration scheme that will approve 3,000 visas for young Indian professionals to work in the country every year for two years.

PM Modi also met Chinese President Xi Jinping at the G20 dinner. Sources told India Today that the two leaders briefly exchanged pleasantries. “The Indian Prime Minister and President Xi Jinping, who were both attending the G20 Dinner hosted by the Indonesian President, exchanged courtesies at the conclusion of the dinner,” say sources.

G20 summit in Bali: PM Modi urges ceasefire in ongoing Russia-Ukraine war

    [ad_1]

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that there should be a ceasefire in Ukraine, and an end to the war. “I have repeatedly said that we have to find a way to return to the path of ceasefire and diplomacy in Ukraine,” PM Modi said while attending the Food and Energy Security Session at the 17th G20 Leaders Summit in Bali.

“Over the past century, the Second World War wreaked havoc in the world. After that, the leaders of that time made a serious effort to take the path of peace. Now it’s our turn. The onus of creating a new world order for the post-Covid period lies on our shoulders. The need of the hour is to show concrete and collective resolve to ensure peace, harmony, and security in the world,” he said.

“I am confident that next year when the G20 meets in the holy land of Buddha and Gandhi, we will all agree to convey a strong message of peace to the world,” he said.

PM Modi reached Bali on Monday and is scheduled to attend the G20 Summit of the world’s major economies and hold bilateral meetings on its sidelines with key leaders on pressing global issues. During his 45-hour visit, PM Modi is expected to discuss crucial topics, including world economy, energy, environment, agriculture, health, and digital transformation. PM Modi’s visit to the G20 summit is crucial as he will formally take over India’s G20 Chairmanship for 2023 starting December 1.

After arriving in Bali, PM Modi tweeted, “Grateful to the Indian community for the warm welcome in Bali!”

Besides PM Modi, the two-day summit will be attended by US President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak among heads from 20 countries and the European Union who make up the group.

    PM Modi’s schedule

PM Modi is scheduled to attend around 20 meetings, as per government sources. He will also hold bilateral meetings with around 10 world leaders.

But it is still not clear whether Modi will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping, who arrived in Bali earlier in the day, separately. Both last met at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Uzbekistan’s Samarkand in September, but there was no formal or informal meeting between the two leaders.

Besides, PM Modi will participate in the summit’s session on Health on Tuesday, and a session on discussing the impact of Russia’s war in Ukraine. Western leaders are expected to press Russia to renew a deal allowing Ukrainian wheat export through the Black Sea. Russian President Vladimir Putin is not attending the summit, and the country is represented by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

On Tuesday evening, Prime Minister will meet members of the Indian community in Indonesia and later watch a cultural performance.

    G20 summit

The G20 comprises Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the UK, the USA and the European Union (EU).

The list includes both advanced and emerging economies. Together, they account for over 80 per cent of the global Gross Domestic Product, 75 per cent of international trade, and two-thirds of the world population.

During Delhi’s presidency in the coming year, it would be the first time when the troika of G20’s current, previous, and next president would consist of three developing countries – India, Indonesia, and Brazil.

  • IT giant HCL Tech now leans on ‘start-up partners’ whenever stuck with a problem

IT giant HCL Tech now leans on ‘start-up partners’ whenever stuck with a problem

    [ad_1]

Start-ups have changed the way companies think and operate. And now, even large enterprises rely on them to come up with unique solutions. One such example is Indian IT giant, HCL Technologies. The company, founded by Shiv Nadar, has evolved with the emergence of the start-up ecosystem, says Achyut Chandra, Manager and Lead at HCL’s Open Innovation vertical.

Speaking to Business Today at T-Hub’s ‘Corporate Innovation Conclave’ on Wednesday, Chandra explained that now when the company encounters a problem they turn to their “start-up partners” for solutions because they help them “solve the problems quickly”.

“As an organisation grows, the power to make changes slows down,” he highlighted, adding that the processes are too lengthy to execute any change quickly sometimes. This is where start-ups step in.

“Eight years ago we realised that innovation can be brought out by external forces as well,” he highlighted. This epiphany, he said, later led to the launch of HCL’s open-innovation program called eSTIP. eSTIP has so far partnered with over 1,000 start-ups, eight venture capitalists, among other things.

Chandra noted that when Indian corporates started realising the value coming from this segment, they started “decentralising innovation” and that is in turn slowly opening the way for innovation to come from all corners of the country including the hinterlands.

Chandra also pointed out that exciting times are coming up for the Indian business ecosystem especially with the launch of 5G or fifth generation.

This will, especially, bolster the internet economy, according to him. “Stable and high-speed connectivity will give a push to the creator economy and the start-up ecosystem. While the former will create more content, the latter will be able to produce more solutions.”

Chandra said that start-ups are significant to the growth of the country, he also shared some larger plans that are there on the cards. He said that the IT giant wants to place its bets on deeptech technologies such as quantum computing and quantum communications in the coming times along with a special emphasis on sustainability. The company is hiring individuals which are digitally savvy and can add to the organisation’s plans.

In May this year, HCL partnered with World Economic Forum to commit $15 million to support “acquapreneurs” and innovation happening in the fresh resource management segment.

Chandra concluded by saying that India’s open innovation ecosystem has come a long way and collaborations between corporates and start-ups are going to increase and become only stronger in the times to come.

The list represents a one-of-a-kind look at the most successful companies within the economy’s most dynamic segment—its independent businesses.

“Growing 3X in three years is simply brilliant. All credit to our incredible Brillient employees and executive leaders who work hard every day to live up to our lofty name, Brillient. Among the top 5,000, the average median three-year revenue growth rate soared to 2,144%. Together, those companies added more than 68,394 jobs over the past three years.

“The accomplishment of building one of the fastest-growing companies in the U.S., in light of recent economic roadblocks, cannot be overstated,” says Scott Omelianuk, editor-in-chief of Inc. “Inc. is thrilled to honor the companies that have established themselves through innovation, hard work, and rising to the challenges of today.”

  • Zigurat to Launch the 5th Edition of the Global MBA in Digital Business

Zigurat to Launch the 5th Edition of the Global MBA in Digital Business

    [ad_1]

As companies need to move beyond digital optimization of processes and to expand through truly transformational practices, the need for change agents to help manage this cultural shift inside organizations increases.

    Press Release

    updated: Aug 27, 2019

To celebrate the launch of the upcoming edition of the Global MBA in Digital Business, Zigurat Innovation and Business School was inspired by the transformative journey that Tess Guetat, an integrated communication and marketing expert and an alumna of the program, underwent when she successfully moved to communication, people and culture change management.

From Belgium, and with an international career spanning Europe, the USA and the Middle East, Tess now — a change management consultant — assists organizations with specific interventions that help them advance in their change journey. To “better respond to employees’ and customers’ needs for higher engagement and for companies requirements for continuous innovation,” she dedicated her Master’s project to create a blueprint for the transformation of a traditional network communication agency. For her transformation proposal, she also received an award for “Outstanding Final Project: that recognizes excellence in the final project and the presentation of a real applicable transformation case.”

    Delivering added value to clients

With the rise of disruptive technologies and the coming of age of new audiences with different media consumption, new business models have emerged. For companies, this means defining more competitive, efficient and profitable customers’ and employees’ engagement strategies, to best respond to an increasingly digital native audience.

Tess goes on to say that traditional marketing agencies that have transformed to a service offering closer to either tech or strategic consultancies and changed their brand perception, have enjoyed a positive reception from brands and shown great results in terms of acquiring more clients and projects through new and additional revenue streams. Thereby securing themselves a place in the future of the industry.

The key to success is understanding that rather than delivering a service, agencies must deliver value for their clients. One way for an agency to deliver value is to help clients improve their customer experience. “The Global MBA in Digital Business taught us the latest innovation accelerators and how these can be applied to various industries and across an organization.” Tess highlights the use of Artificial Intelligence, programmatics, machine learning, deep learning, big data, and analytics, as the most often used innovators in the marketing industry to impact the customers’ journey and experience.

Education is key to being able to innovate

Applying transformation processes is a great challenge for many companies who cannot put on hold their daily operations to cater for change. It’s also harder to foresee future needs for change when the business is currently doing well. This has created the need for change management professionals who feel at home in a digital ecosystem and have a visionary approach to innovation.

This demand for change agents is what Zigurat’s Global MBA in Digital Business has set out to respond to, by training innovators of the next generation capable of moving beyond digital optimization and expanding organizations through truly transformational practices.

  • How to Navigate Towards Digital Success With the Right Roadmap

How to Navigate Towards Digital Success With the Right Roadmap

    [ad_1]

Facing the process of digitalization with a plan delivers better results than initiating digital projects without any structure

    Press Release

    updated: Aug 13, 2019

Due to high demand, Zigurat Innovation and Technology Business School has relaunched the Digital Roadmap Series as part of its summer course offerings to help the business world keep up with the rapid digital developments shaping the future of all industries.

Successful organizations are defined by their clear business direction. The same applies to digital transformation, a clear vision and an established roadmap are necessary to define the way forward. To potentiate those who feel somewhat lost while it seems that everyone else is going digital, Zigurat decided to relaunch the collection of 6 eBooks Digital Roadmap Series developed in part by Robin Weninger, professor of Global MBA in Digital Business.

On the road to digital success

The era of world-shaping innovations and emerging trendsetters will be easy on neither the companies nor the professionals who lead them. But one thing has become clear: the companies who have initiated the process of digitalization with a defined strategy perform much better than companies initiating digital projects without a clear structure. There are 4 steps that every company must follow to gain a foothold in the digital world.

The first step is to identify the current position of the organization by carrying out an analysis of the external environment. Companies should then also conduct internal analyses of their foundation and enabling factors. Once the status quo has been evaluated, first digital initiatives must be derived and put into action. Meanwhile, the organization must start working on a digital maturity plan, the purpose of which is to enable the entire company to become digitally fluent.

Lastly, if everything has worked out as planned during the above steps, the newly defined digital strategy and goals must be applied to the daily business to pave the way for future success.

    People first, technology second

The change does not occur immediately, but progressively. In other words, the digital revolution turns into a digital evolution, a less disruptive but never-ending change process. “Supported by the right communication and targeted management decisions, organizations can by this succeed in establishing a positive attitude of their employees towards change,” states Robin Weninger in Digital Roadmap Series. He adds: “Active participation forms an essential integral part of the digital mindset and of intrapreneurship required within the organization.”

Without any doubt, digital aspects are reshaping our daily reality. The workforce is more and more encouraged and enabled to contribute actively to the company’s economic success. Everything must be aimed at applying the agile and digital mindset at all levels of the organization rather than solely maintaining a high technological standard.

In this new technological scenario, Zigurat has developed jointly with the Institut de Formacio Continua-IL3 of Universitat de Barcelona the Global MBA in Digital Business, designed for all those professionals who want to foster their technological and decision-making skills and add a differential value to increase their competitiveness in the global market.

Universitat de Barcelona reaffirms its commitment to Zigurat through the Institut de Formació Contínua-IL3 by offering its facilities for the event

    Press Release

    updated: Aug 7, 2019

Zigurat Global Institute of Technology brought together in the city of Barcelona students of 43 nationalities to celebrate the second edition of the Zigurat Student Week, held in the building of the Institut de Formació Contínua IL3 – Universitat de Barcelona.

Participants of 11 master’s programs, coming from Europe, the Middle East, Asia, North and South America, met in person to participate in academic workshops presented by professors and industry leaders and to visit a selection of locally based projects and pioneering companies.

    Listening to the industry

At the event, the latest industry trends, in terms of digital transformation, were covered, such as the innovative proposals in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), presented by Angela Shen-Hsieh from Telefónica; the introduction to key issues such as Technological Ethics and Intrapreneurship from a 100% digital perspective, a session directed by Robin Weninger from shapingwork; and the different applications of Blockchain, by the hand of Dr. Daniel Diemers, who ended his session with a very interesting Shark Tank dynamic. Jean Bosco Ahorukomeye, a student of Global Master’s in Blockchain Technologies, sums up his experience at the event: “I have met a lot of people, made friends and many contacts for my future and my business.”

The Architecture and Engineering students examined several implementation cases of BIM methodology, as well as new digital workflows and the most innovative collaborative processes. The concepts of Smart Contracts and the increasingly popular Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) were addressed from a very practical and dynamic approach to encourage teamwork and collaboration among participants. The presentations by architect Ignasi Pérez Arnal and engineer Issam El-Absi, on IPD and BIM workflow creation, respectively, were particularly highlighted by the participants. What the Master’s in Global BIM Management student Nasreen Mursi values most about the event is that it “truly connects you with everything that is happening in the industry.”

In addition, more transversal sessions were also held to cultivate less technical, but equally essential, social skills, such as communication, leadership and team building, at the hands of international specialists such as James Basha.

Visits to companies and sites to complete the ‘Barcelona experience’

The Zigurat Student Week was also an ideal opportunity to get to know first-hand the technology companies and outstanding projects in the city. The students of Digital Transformation and Blockchain visited Telefónica’s headquarters and Barcelona Tech City to get to know the technological ecosystem and the panorama of digital innovation in the city better, among which the initiative of Mobile World Capital Barcelona stands out for receiving the MWC in Barcelona. For their part, the students of Architecture and Engineering got to know the Networkia Business Center, a unique project developed and executed entirely in BIM in the very center of Barcelona.

    Zigurat Awards

To conclude an unforgettable week for everyone, Zigurat rewarded the work and effort of the participants by delivering the now traditional Zigurat Awards, which recognized teams and professionals who excelled in different academic activities during the week.
