  • 3 juveniles arrested in connection to series of Cary vehicle break-ins, car theft, police say

    CARY, N.C. (WTVD) — Three juveniles were arrested Tuesday morning in connection with a series of vehicle break-ins in Cary, according to the police department.

    Around 3 a.m., officers responded to reports of four vehicles being broken into on the 3900 block of Ansley Stream Lane. While en route, they spotted two Kia cars and those matching the description of the break-in suspects.

    Both cars refused to stop for authorities, leading officers on a chase into Apex.

    Officers responded to reports of four vehicles being broken into at an apartment complex on Ansley Stream Lane in Cary.

    One of the Kias crashed into a Honda SUV near the intersection of Salem Street and Apex Peakway. Two juveniles were arrested at the scene, officers said. One sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital. The driver of the SUV was uninjured.

    The second Kia returned to Cary on US 1 before exiting onto Walnut Street. The driver lost control and crashed in the Crossroads Shopping Center near the Olive Garden restaurant. A third juvenile was taken into custody there. No injuries were reported in this crash.

    Both Kias were later confirmed to be stolen.

    All three suspects are under 17 years old, and their identities will not be released, CPD said. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed.
