Suspect killed after being shot by HPD officers in northeast Houston, police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A man accused of firing a weapon near apartments in northeast Houston is dead after he was shot by police, according to authorities.

The Houston Police Department said it received a call at about 7:57 a.m. Sunday, about a person firing a weapon in the backyard in the 5800 block of Hartwick.

Officers arrived at the scene, and two officers fired their weapons, according to police. HPD said the suspect was down and confirmed to have died.

Police added that three men were detained at the scene, but it’s unclear what their role is in the incident.

No officers were injured, and an investigation is ongoing.
