(FOX40.COM) — 19 months after an Inderkum High School football coach was shot and killed in downtown Sacramento, a suspect in the shooting was arrested, Sacramento Police said on Tuesday.

Tahje Michael, 29, was arrested in Fayetteville, North Carolina on Tuesday with the help of U.S. Marshals, according to police.

Michael is accused of shooting and killing Greg “Najee” Grimes in the early morning hours of July 4, 2022. Grimes was struck by gunfire as he was leaving a nightclub near 15th and L streets. Four others were injured in the shooting.

With the help of “America’s Most Wanted,” police made a breakthrough in the case and determined Michael as the suspect on Jan. 30 of this year, police said.

“Today’s apprehension underscores the unwavering commitment of law enforcement to pursue justice,” Sacramento Police Chief Kathy Lester said.
