SUN readers have donated £1.4million to our Earthquake Appeal — as lottery operator Camelot pledged £100,000.
It came as the death toll in Turkey and Syria topped 50,000 — and the story emerged of a three-year-old boy, Arsalan, who was found alive under his father’s protective body.
The orphaned Syrian lad has fought for his life in a poorly equipped hospital for 20 days.
He was rescued after two days, surviving beside the entombed bodies of his entire family.
Camelot boosted our Earthquake Appeal yesterday and said: “The Sun’s Earthquake Appeal is doing a fantastic job in raising vital funds and helping those in desperate need.”
Marks & Spencer kindly donated another £50,000 on top of helping to launch our fund with an initial £50,000 donation.
And toy shop The Entertainer also gave £2,000 in addition to a donation to the Disasters Emergency Committee.
The chain’s founder Gary Grant said: “We’re delighted to support such a vital appeal to support people who have lost everything.”
