PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — You could “Strut Your Kidney” this Sunday at Sellwood Riverfront Park in Portland.
The event raises money for Northwest Kidney Kids, a nonprofit supporting local kids with chronic kidney disease and their families.
Lauren Lynn, a Northwest Kidney Kids board member, told KOIN 6 News her daughter had kidney failure as a toddler before getting a transplant.
“This year we’ll be celebrating her 10-year kidney anniversary. And from our first camp till today, Northwest Kidney Kids has kind of been our light,” Lynn said. “Our hope made us as a family, as a parent, realize that this chronic disease doesn’t have to rule our lives, that it is just part of the journey. And it can be very challenging. It can be a complete rollercoaster, but knowing that we’re not alone in this path has been so comforting for our whole family.”
You can run, walk or roll for 10K, 5K and a one-mile fun run. Races start at 9 a.m. Sunday. Registration is necessary.
