SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – As the medical field faces limited staffing nationwide, local nursing graduates are preparing to move into the workforce to help meet that rising demand in healthcare.
Springfield Technical Community College celebrated its class of 2024 with a Nursing Pinning Ceremony Tuesday evening. Students of the School of Health & Patient Simulation proudly marking years of dedicated hard work.
The school’s Director of Nursing told 22News there is a great need right now for more nurses to serve our area.
“There’s a shortage of nurses and we really need to get them out their to help with patient care,” said Lisa Fugiel. “This is an amazing group. They are so happy and we are so proud of them for the work they’ve done to become nurses.”
According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, the Registered Nursing workforce is expected to grow by 6% over the next decade.
