State police conducting DUI checkpoint in Hampden County

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Massachusetts State Police will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint in Hampden County to bring awareness to the public and prevent impaired drivers.

Massachusetts State Police Superintendent Colonel Geoffrey D. Noble announced that the checkpoint will be implemented on a public roadway in Hampden County from Friday, September 5, into Saturday, September 6.

The checkpoint will occur across varying hours, and vehicles will not be selected arbitrarily. State police said that the safety of drivers will be assured and that travelers in the area will receive advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety and to minimize inconvenience.

These sobriety checkpoints are funded through a grant from the Office of Grants and Research of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security.
