The State Fair of Texas reopened Sunday afternoon after a Saturday-night shooting in which three people were wounded, prompting the evacuation of the Dallas grounds.

Local cops responded to the violence around 7:45 p.m. Saturday.

“The preliminary investigation determined one man shot at another man,” the Dallas Police Department said in a statement. “Three people were shot, all have non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect ran from the scene, but officers located the man and took him into custody.”

Police arrested Cameron Turner, 22, and charged him with three counts of aggravated assault. The victims, two men and a woman, were in stable condition on Sunday, police said.

“A gun was also recovered,” cops said. “The individuals involved have also been identified. The investigation is ongoing.”

Two people who knew each other were involved in the shooting, Dallas City Council member Adam Bazaldua said after being briefed by City Manager T.C. Broadnax. People fled along sidewalks and clambered up barriers, according to video footage posted on social media.

The incident marred what should have been a safe and fun celebratory weekend, fair organizers said. The entire event was shut down and the grounds were evacuated after the shooting.

“The State Fair of Texas team is deeply saddened by the incident last night on the fairgrounds,” they said Sunday. “Safety is the number one priority of the State Fair of Texas. We are committed to upholding the level of security required to ensure the State Fair of Texas event is a safe and family-friendly environment for all fairgoers, vendors, and employees.”

They urged people to be cautious on Sunday.

“We ask that everyone remain ‘Fair Aware,’ ” organizers said. “If you see something that doesn’t look right on the fairgrounds, please say something to a uniformed police officer or State Fair Safety Team member.”

Shows, attractions and concerts were set to continue on the original schedule.

Held since 1886, the 24-day State Fair of Texas “celebrates all things Texan by promoting agriculture, education, and community involvement through quality entertainment in a family-friendly environment,” the event’s website description reads. The 277-acre Fair Park just east of downtown Dallas, home to this largest and longest-running fair in the U.S., is a National Historic Landmark.
