Spotnana has added a “carbon removal” offering, partnering with a carbon capture provider for purchased offsets, the company announced.

The offering comes via Creturner Group, which has a process to turn wood-based waste into coal, which is stored permanently underground in old mining pits. As such, the process results in a quantifiable amount of carbon removed from the atmosphere, which Spotnana customers can buy as offsets for carbon emissions as calculated by their preferred partners, according to Spotnana.

Offset certification is provided to customers as a blockchain-based token.

“Corporations need effective solutions for true carbon removal to ensure travel is sustainable for current and future generations,” Spotnana VP of partnerships Johnny Thorsen said in a statement. “To achieve net zero impact, we believe it’s essential to provide access to carbon removal technology that is effective, accurate and simple to use.”
