In much the same way as November 7 and Mass Effect, Bioware has dubbed December 4 “Dragon Age Day.” And for this Dragon Age Day, the developer has dropped another teaser trailer for its upcoming project, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. However, don’t get too excited: The actual reveal isn’t for another several months — summer 2024, in fact.

The trailer shows several locations in Thedas (fittingly, an acronym for The Dragon Age Setting) that will presumably play a part in the game, including Antiva, Rivain and the Anderfels. Voices of unnamed characters overlay the footage of the settings, including one of a menacing antagonist — possibly Solas, a.k.a. the titular Dreadwolf. There is no gameplay footage in the trailer.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf was originally revealed in 2018 at the Game Awards — its predecessor, Dragon Age: Inquisition, won Game of the Year at the 204 event. For those who might have been hoping Dreadwolf would return for the five-year anniversary, Bioware appears to be putting those hopes to bed. Very likely the full reveal will take place at or around next year’s Summer Game Fest, or perhaps an individual showcase from Electronic Arts.

Dreadwolf’s development has been marked by some controversy. Gameplay footage has leaked and former producer Mark Darrah was brought in to help rally the team to complete it. Most recently Bioware laid off several employees who are currently in a legal battle with the developer over alleged unfair severance.
