Snow emergencies declared in Pennsylvania communities ahead of major winter storm

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Snow emergencies have been declared in several communities across Pennsylvania ahead of Sunday’s major winter storm.

Philadelphia

A snow emergency will be in effect for Philadelphia starting at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Mayor Cherelle Parker announced at a Friday morning news conference.

It will remain in effect until roadway conditions improve, Parker said.

Mayor Parker asked city residents to move cars off snow emergency routes by that time.

Bucks County

Buckingham Township: Snow emergency declared beginning at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Street parking is prohibited during the emergency until 12 hours after snow ends.

Solebury Township: Snow emergency declared beginning at Saturday at 7 p.m. Vehicles found abandoned will be ticketed and towed at the owners expense.

Chester County

Malvern: Snow emergency effective Saturday at 5 p.m. until further notice. All vehicles must be removed from snow emergency highways or they will be towed and ticketed.

Delaware County

Montgomery County

Pennsburg Borough: Snow emergency in effect at 6 a.m. on Sunday until 24 hours after snowfall ends. All vehicles should be removed from roadways and must be removed from the snow emergency route on Main Street.

Towamencin Township: Snow emergency declared beginning on Saturday at 10 p.m. until Monday at 10 p.m. Parking on roadways posted as Snow Emergency Routes is prohibited and subject to ticketing and towing.

Upper Dublin Township: Snow emergency declared from Saturday at 11:30 p.m. until Tuesday at 12:30 a m. Parking restrictions are in place as plows work to remove snow.

Upper Gwynedd Township: Snow emergency in effect on 5 p.m. Saturday. Any vehicles left parked or abandoned on a Snow Emergency route during will be fined or towed.

Upper Merion Township: Snow emergency in effect at 8 p.m. on Saturday until 6 p.m. on Monday. Vehicle parking is prohibited on all designated Snow Emergency Routes during this time. Administrative offices and the library will be closed on Monday. The Upper Merion Community Center will be closed on Sunday and Monday.

Upper Pottsgrove Township: Snow emergency in effect from Saturday at 7 p.m. until Monday at 4 p.m.

West Norriton Township: Snow emergency in effect from 7 p.m. on Saturday until noon on Monday. Parking is prohibited on all Snow Emergency Routes.

Whitpain Township: Snow emergency declared. During a Snow Emergency, parking is prohibited on all streets until snow has been plowed for the width of the street, except on roads with only on-street parking. Trashcans should also be removed from the roads.
