The biggest names in the ska and reggae music scene are slated to perform live in Davao for the “Mindanao Ska & Reggae Festival” that’s taking place on November 26, 5PM, and on November 27, 4PM, at Park N Chill Bar And Cafe in Buhangin, Davao City.

The Brownbeat Allstars will be one of the headliners for the show. It has been many years since the band has visited Davao, and they can’t wait to see their fans again and perform their classic hits such as “Manila Girl,” “Lampungan,” as well as their new tracks like “Ako Ito” and “Maru.”

The Spaceflower Show loves Davao City, vice versa. The Baguio-based band performed in the city in July and August of this year, and they received great receptions from the Davaoenos, and will be back for another wonderful live show, their third one, before the year ends.

Bulacan dwellers Don Dahon, CDO-based The Superflirts, Neighbors from Rizal, Tagum’s Skandollz, The Cripple from Sto. Tomas, and Surigao’s D Teletabis will all be gracing Davao for the event as well. The bands can hardly wait to perform and have fun with the skankers of Mindanao.

Davao bands Garlic Invaders, Reggal8, Skalars, Malaya Vibrations, Orphic Malayang Dahon, One Eye Cold, Island Project, Da Holy Weed, Huggaduck and the Hawaiian Blues, Jamebondska, Skatified Wheelbites, Madame and the Bluejobberz are performing.

In line with the main concert event, Skarlet Brown and the rest of the The Brownbeat Allstars will be conducting a free music workshop prior to the event. Learn Music Education, Brass, Jamaican Music, and Basic Songwriting Techniques from the revered ska band, all for free.

Apart from the workshop, there will be a festival bazaar that’s offering reggae and ska-related merch like shirts, accessories, and crystals, as well as a tattoo corner if you want to get inked.

The 2-day Mindanao Ska & Reggae Festival marks the first big ska and reggae event in Davao City since the COVID-19 lockdown. It is considered historic, with many of these bands and their members’ joining in again after years of being apart to make ska and reggae huge in the country once more.
