It is quite alarming how many elected officials lack basic knowledge of our Constitution and the laws of our land. Moreover, some of these elected officials are lawyers, which is even scarier when you think about it.

Case in point: Democratic Senator from Illinois Dick Durbin, who received his law degree from Georgetown University, claims that:

“Free speech does not include spreading misinformation to downplay political violence.”

Oh, Dick, were you sick the day your Georgetown Constitutional Law professor was covering that little thing called free speech? It’s incredible you’ve practiced law and were elected to the Senate.

I Don’t Like It; Therefore, It’s Illegal

Elon Musk took over Twitter last week. While many of us celebrated his liberation of the bluebird, plenty on the left have been crying heavily in their showers, wondering when the madness will end.

What’s caused liberals to wail in rage and dismay is a tweet that Musk has since deleted in response to a tweet from failed Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

After the horrific attack on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul, the former Secretary of State naturally blamed Republicans for the attack stating that it was Republicans’ “hate and deranged conspiracy theories” that led to a lunatic attacking Mr. Pelosi.

To which Mr. Musk tweeted in reply:

“There is a tiny possibility there might be more to this story than meets the eye.”

That tweet alone is enough to cause liberal heads to spin on their shoulders but adding to that was Musk sharing an article from the Santa Monica Observer that is known for publishing false information.

While not the news site I would ever attach myself to, having done so is not in violation of free speech.

Although, Senator Durbin disagreed, as indicated in the tweet mentioned earlier.

It Is Free Speech, Actually

Senator Durbin’s tweet was met with some hilarious and accurate counter-tweets pointing out just how ignorant the lawmaker is when it comes to, you know… the law. Reason magazine editor Billy Binion rightly tweeted in response:

“The entire point of the first amendment is that it protects the speech you don’t like. It does not only apply when you’re vibing with it.”

My favorite response came from Babylon Bee managing editor Joel Berry, who reminded Senator Durbin that:

“Yes it does, and you ought to know since that’s what you did for 2 years while this country burned.”

Mr. Berry brings up a great point: mainstream media and Democrats downplayed the political violence during the Summer 2020 riots that saw major cities across this country burn and dozens of people killed.

And let’s not forget the rhetoric against the Supreme Court Justices leading up to the Roe v. Wade decision.

Last I checked, that led to a similarly deranged individual attempting to assassinate a Justice.

To Disagree Or Question Is To Invoke Violence

We now live in a country where if you disagree with the political party in charge or question their motives, you are advocating for violence. California’s Governor Gavin Newsom accused Fox News’ Jesse Watters of “aiding and abetting” the attack on Paul Pelosi because he covered the man’s DUI and his wife’s stock choices.

Now Jesse is asking reasonable questions regarding the attack on Mr. Pelosi and is part of what Mr. Musk was alluding to in his since-deleted tweet response to Hillary Clinton. How did this clear criminal with mental health instability, to put it lightly, get into the house, and why didn’t the alarm go off at the Pelosi residence?

My favorite response, though, is from President Joe Biden, who said after the attack:

“What makes us think that one party can talk about ‘stolen elections,’ ‘COVID being a hoax,’ ‘this is all a bunch of lies’ and it not affect people who may not be so well balanced?”

Besides the fact that the Republican Party does not own the rights to election denial, the most glaring issue with what Uncle Joe has to say is that questioning your government or having a different opinion than the ruling party is not the reason an addict who believes he speaks to fairies attacked Mr. Pelosi.

He did it because he’s mentally deranged and a criminal that should’ve been locked up – or deported, since he is an illegal alien.

So perhaps the fingers should be pointing to California leadership, as opposed to Republicans.

Free Speech, Even When It Upsets You

Senator Durbin had also tweeted:

“In the days since Musk took Twitter private, the platform has seen an uptick in hate speech, and Musk himself used the platform and his influence to spread a baseless conspiracy theory about a violent attack on an elected official’s family member.”

As Yoel Roth, head of safety and integrity at Twitter, stated:

“Bottom line up front: Twitter’s policies haven’t changed. Hateful conduct has no place here. And we’re taking steps to put a stop to an organized effort to make people think we have.”

Elon Musk has also attempted to calm the fears of freaked-out liberals, stating in a letter to advertisers :

“Twitter obviously cannot become a free-for-all hellscape, where anything can be said with no consequences.”

However, that doesn’t mean tweets that upset Dick Durbin and other poorly educated liberals equates to hate speech.

Who Owns The Market On Violence

I find it laughable that the January 6th Capitol riot now mean that Republicans are the party of political violence. It’s as if the Democrats choose to ignore the summer 2020 riots that Democrats egged on, to include our current Vice President.

But here we are, with former President Obama scolding us, stating:

“This habit of saying the worst about other people, demonizing people, that creates a dangerous climate.”

No doubt, how about you have a chat with your former BFF about that Obama? The sheer cajones on Divider-in-Chief Joe Biden to rebuke Republicans by saying:

“Every person of good conscience needs to clearly and unambiguously stand up against the violence in our politics regardless what your politics are.”

What does your conscience tell you, Joe? Is it telling you to stop calling people like me extremist semi-fascists

Or is that not inciting political violence and stoking political fear?
