NC State University Police responded to a fight between four East Carolina University students and two NC State students on campus early Friday morning.

The fight prompted a heavy police and first responder presence on Founders Drive. This report comes hours after NC State football’s victory over East Carolina Thursday night.

The officer on the scene at the time told WRAL that at least eight people were involved. A new press release said that it was a fight that broke out before 2 a.m. between four ECU students and two NC State students.

All were charged with misdemeanor affray.

Officers said the ECU students trespassed on NC State’s property.

The WRAL Breaking News Tracker arrived to the scene around 2:45 a.m. There were three ambulances and at least a half dozen NC State police vehicles near Nelson Hall and Governors Scott Courtyard.

WRAL captured on video police speaking to four people. One person appeared to have a bruised elbow with an ice pack on his head. Officers handed the four people papers, but it is unclear what for.

WRAL did not see anyone being taken away in an ambulance.

This investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are possible, police said.
