Sci-Fi Stats: Gort The Robot | The MoPOP Blog

Whether friend, foe, or sometimes both, the sci-fi robot is a staple of the genre.

When you head down to Infinite Worlds of Science Fiction make sure to take a moment at the doors to say “hello” to our homage to this genre classic.

Artifact Stats

Artifact Replica: Gort the Robot

Appears: The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)

Origins: Part of a race of robots created by a united interplanetary alliance, Gort was built to protect citizens from aggressors by any means necessary.

Fun Fact: “Klaatu barada nikto” is the failsafe command meant to stop Gort in the event he’s trigged to destroy the earth. But that film is not the only place you’ll hear it. Filmmakers like Sam Rami and George Lucas have woven the phrase into their films as a subtle homage to this sci-fi classic.
