SB19 leader Pablo has been appointed as the new Earth Hour Music Ambassador for WWF-Philippines and will be the main guest at the annual switch-off event in Manila City on March 23, 2024.
Atty. Angela Consuelo Ibay, the National Director of Earth Hour Philippines, expressed that Pablo embodies the passion and resilience of Filipinos, making him the ideal representative for the Earth Hour celebration. She highlighted Pablo’s role as SB19’s songwriter, creative director, and CEO of their label, praising his ability to infuse Filipino culture, flavor, and style into his music.
The annual Earth Hour celebration, marking its 16th anniversary in the Philippines, will take place at the Kartilya ng Katipunan in Manila City. This global event, observed in over 190 countries and territories, encourages participants to switch off their lights from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm local time as a symbol of their commitment to the environment.
In partnership with the Manila City Local Government, the event will feature performances by Pablo, Ched, and Lirah Bermudez, among others, with the iconic Manila Clock Tower serving as the backdrop. The program aims to raise awareness about climate change and environmental issues, emphasizing the need for collective action from all sectors of society.
Earth Hour 2024’s main theme is tackling plastic waste pollution and environmental degradation, with a focus on bringing together government, businesses, civil society organizations, academia, and youth to find solutions.
The event will include a solutions fair for partner NGOs and social enterprises, as well as the official start of the Earth Hour virtual run organized by Pinoy Fitness.
