Santa Rosa police arrest Oregon man for concealed gun and drugs

(KRON) — The Santa Rosa Police Department conducted a traffic stop that led to an arrest Friday morning.

At approximately 11:25 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle in Santa Rosa and contacted the driver, Edgar Vela, 33, from Portland, Oregon.

The officer reported observing several open containers of marijuana inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle. The officer conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and located a loaded revolver in the glove compartment, according to SRPD. Vela was not the registered owner of the firearm.

The Santa Rosa police officer also reported locating a glass pipe used for ingesting methamphetamine along with a usable amount of methamphetamine.

Vela was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on the following charges:

  • Carrying a concealed firearm.
  • Possession of a loaded firearm not the registered owner.
  • Possession of a controlled substance while in possession of an operable firearm.
