For the second consecutive year, Jessica Chastain is a Screen Actors Guild Awards winner.
Sunday’s ceremony at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Century City, Calif., began with the Juilliard alum receiving the trophy for female actress in a TV movie or limited series for “George & Tammy,” in which she portrays late country music star Tammy Wynette.
It’s the third SAG Awards win for Chastain, who took home best film actress last year for “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” and starred in “The Help,” which won the show’s outstanding cast honor in 2013.
Other early winners Sunday included “Hacks” star Jean Smart for actress in a comedy series and “1883″ star Sam Elliott for actor in a TV movie or limited series.
“Everything Everywhere All at Once,” the acclaimed multiverse comedy-drama starring Michelle Yeoh, and “The Banshees of Inisherin,” Martin McDonaugh’s dark dive into a damaged friendship, tied with five nominations apiece to lead all films.

Both were nominated Sunday for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture, as were Steven Spielberg’s semi-autobiographical “The Fabelmans;” the 1920s-set “Babylon” starring Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie; and the Rooney Mara-led drama “Women Talking,” adapted from a 2018 novel.

“Banshees” previously won the Golden Globe for best musical or comedy film over “Everything Everywhere,” which more recently took home top honors at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards and Producers Guild of America Awards.
The SAG Awards regularly serve as a predictor for the Academy Awards, including last year, when each of the acting winners were the same. “CODA” won best cast at the 2022 SAG Awards before taking home the Oscar for best picture.
On the TV side of Sunday’s SAG ceremony, the Netflix crime drama “Ozark” led all shows with four nominations, including for outstanding ensemble in a drama series. “Ozark” stars Jason Bateman, Laura Linney and Julia Garner were all finalists for individual acting honors.

The others nominee for TV drama ensemble were Netflix’s royal drama “The Crown,” HBO’s resort-set anthology “The White Lotus,” Apple’s psychological thriller “Severance” and AMC’s legal drama “Better Call Saul.”
The school sitcom “Abbott Elementary,” which led all shows this year with three wins at the Globes, was nominated Sunday for outstanding ensemble in a comedy series and outstanding comedy actress for star Quinta Brunson.
Sunday’s SAG Awards aired on Netflix’s YouTube channel after the show left its longtime home on TNT and TBS. The ceremony will move to the main Netflix streaming service next year.
