Sacramento police confirm only one car hit a pedestrian in Sunday’s fatal collision, not two.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Update: 12:30 p.m.

In an update, police said only one car hit a pedestrian in a deadly collision from Sunday evening. That car also stayed at the scene.

Sacramento police initially said they responded to a hit-and-run crash in the area of Del Paso Boulevard and Marysville Boulevard, finding a pedestrian down in the roadway.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Initially, police said the pedestrian was hit by two vehicles, with one of them fleeing and the other staying at the scene. However, in an update, police said evidence now shows that a second vehicle didn’t hit the pedestrian. Police are investigating the involvement of that vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing, but no impairment is suspected on the part of the driver whose car hit the pedestrian.

Sacramento police are investigating a hit-and-run crash after a person was struck and killed by two vehicles on Sunday evening. 

According to the Sacramento Police Department (SPD), officers were notified of a pedestrian being hit by two vehicles at the intersection of Del Paso Boulevard and Marysville Boulevard shortly before 6:30 p.m. The driver of the second vehicle stayed at the scene of the crash, however, the first vehicle fled before officers could arrive. The pedestrian died at the scene. 

SPD detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit have taken over the investigation. According to the SPD, the intersection of Marysville Boulevard and Del Paso Boulevard is currently closed.
