According to the GoFundMe page that was created by Castaneda’s loved ones, he was a senior at Sacramento State, studying Kinesiology. The page also stated that Castaneda was looking into Master programs after graduation.

On Sept. 13, around 7 a.m. the California Highway Patrol responded to a disabled pickup truck vs a tractor-trailer on I-5 north of Sutterville Road.

His family said on the GoFundMe page that Castaneda was on his way to work that morning when he started to have vehicle problems.

The pickup truck became disabled after the vehicle lost its tires, CHP said.

CHP stated Castaneda was the driver of the pickup truck and died after being struck by the tractor-trailer that was towing two other trailers.

Officials stated that the tow-truck driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
