ROSEVILLE, Calif. — Classes at a Roseville middle school will not be held Wednesday following a fire that caused smoke and damage inside part of the campus.

Roseville Fire Department crews were called to Olympus Junior High School just after 5 p.m. Tuesday after multiple reports of smoke coming from one of the buildings. Firefighters arriving on scene observed thick smoke coming from a section of the school and quickly moved inside to investigate.

Officials say the fire was located in a single classroom, where flames and heavy smoke were present. Crews were able to put out the fire swiftly and then conducted thorough checks to ensure it had not spread to nearby classrooms or into the attic space. Two classrooms were impacted by the incident.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and remains under investigation.

School administrators notified families that the campus will be closed Wednesday as crews begin cleanup and restoration work in the affected areas.
