It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly 2 years since Rocket League Sideswipe launched and subsequently won our hearts and our iPhone Game of the Year pick for 2021, but that anniversary is fast approaching and over the course of those two years developer Psyonix has done a fantastic job of keeping players engaged with a steady stream of new content and features. As with most popular free to play games they do this by way of a seasonal structure with each new season launching roughly every couple of months. Today marks the launch of Season 11 and its hallmark feature is a new Ranked 3v3 Mode that features an extra player on each team, just like the big pants Rocket League, rather than the game’s typical 2v2 multiplayer. Because of the extra players the Ranked 3v3 Mode is played exclusively on the extra large Longfield Arena. Here’s a snippet of 3v3 in action.

Of course a new season also means new Seasonal Rewards with new avatars to earn that show off your varying levels of gaming prowess to others and match up perfectly with the Season 10 Player Banner rewards. The Item Shop is also getting a whole batch of new toys to unlock and earn through the new Rocket Pass, which includes the cyberpunk-ish Cobalt Takumi Car, the donut-powered Forest Green Dunker Goal Explosion, and the Purple Afterlife Dominus Decal which lets you look like a tricked out rolling sarcophagus. Who wouldn’t want that? Season 11 is already in full effect so get out there and start chipping away at that new Rocket Pass. My guess is that Season 12 will coincide with the game’s 2nd anniversary in a couple of months so I’m looking forward to see what’s next for Rocket League Sideswipe.
