The rich get richer, and that was the case on Wednesday evening as Alabama pulled in another Rivals250 prospect.
Four-star offensive guard Casey Poe announced his commitment to Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide during a livestream that was exclusively aired on Rivals.com. Poe opted for the SEC power over finalists Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma and Texas Tech.
“Alabama is the school that’s going to push me the hardest and get me to the level that I want to be at,” Poe told Rivals.com. “It’s my dream to one day hold up a national championship trophy and then play in the NFL for a long time.”
Playing in East Texas, Poe emerged as a coveted offensive line prospect earlier on in his high school career. He amassed more than 20 offers during his recruitment, with several national powers on the list.
Poe is a physically imposing guard that also competes in track and field. He uses his 6-foot-5 and near 300-pound frame to his advantage, as he enforces his strength on defenders when he gets his hands on them. Offensive line coach Eric Wolford led the way for the Crimson Tide on the trail.
“The culture, the coaching, and the relationships that I built with coach Saban and coach Wolford, they’re the coaches that can get me to those places,” said Poe. “It wasn’t an easy decision, but that’s what gave them the edge.”
For Poe, he remembers exactly when he knew that Alabama was the place that he wanted to be. He recalled a moment to Rivals that set the stage for the Crimson Tide to add one of the best offensive linemen in the nation to its class.
“There was a moment on my OV where my dad and I and coach Wolford were all in a room together. He had a slideshow up and had everything broken down for us,” Poe said. “Through every slide, I could see his passion intensify. I think he really loves ‘Bama.”
Poe becomes the 13th pledge in Alabama’s growing class and the fourth to announce for the Crimson Tide this month. The offensive lineman out of Beast Texas has high expectations for what his class can accomplish in Tuscaloosa.
“This ’24 class is about to be crazy. One day, me and this class will be holding up a gold national championship trophy together,” said Poe.
