We are delighted to share the new track from our current new pop obsession Boy Aries. The new single Comets + Death of Time is an absorbing, synth-soaked treat that shines through moody emotive vocals and brooding electronic production. You can exclusively hear the track ahead of its release on the 28th of October above.

Jordan, who makes up one half of Boy Aries, alongside producer Bobbi, shared a little with us about his journey in the world of music, the inspiration behind the new single, and about Kyle, his hot straight recording engineer.

Thanks to Jordan of Boy Aries for the fun chat which you can read below. You can connect with Boy Aries on Instagram.

Hi! Thanks for chatting. I’d love to know about the first music you discovered in your youth and what effect it had on you?

Don’t mention it, nobody knows who I am, I have lots of time . Thanks for your interest. I was probably exposed to church music initially, but that wasn’t very banging. Not a lot of bops in the hymn catalogue. I think the spirituality element though…the longing for a connection to something bigger than me, that kind of exists in the songs we’ve made for this project. I grew up listening to everything from B*Witched to Paramore.

Can you tell me a little about the person behind Boy Aries?

It’s two people technically. Jordan (me), and my friend Bobbi who I collaborate with on the music. We’re just kinda like….two gays who balance each other out well. I’m an optimist and Bobbi’s a pessimist so it’s a cute ying and yang, we accept each other’s opposing energies.

You’ve burst onto the music scene with your singles Turn to Dust and Love On Tape. Was music always a goal for you?

Burst is very generous, it feels like a subtle plop right now…but maybe we can work our way up to a burst. Music was a major goal and then it was on the back burner for a while. We both had previous music projects and industry experiences that may have scared us off a little bit. But we both found our way back to it for better or worse. I think we both still felt like we had something left to say.

What was that feeling like of putting music out there for the world to hear? I guess it must be quite a vulnerable sensation.

It is a vulnerable sensation. But I like vulnerable sensations. It’s wonderful to feel nervous, it means you care. Better than not feeling anything.

Going into as much or little detail as you like, can you tell me about some of the thematic inspiration behind Comets + Death of Time?

It came together really quickly. Stream of consciousness vibes. It’s about projecting a fantasy onto a lover, who is in fact, a shitty person, but it’s that initial blinders-on phase of a relationship where you think they’re an angel but maybe they’re actually a skid-mark?

Is your plan to incorporate the singles into a larger project? An EP or album perhaps?

We’re gonna put out a few more singles and see where the wind blows us. We have a full album written that we think is really special but we need more money, fans and prayer before we can make that a reality.

What’s your favourite part of the music creation process?

Hanging with Kyle, our hot straight recording engineer who’s been dressing really well lately.

Who is currently inspiring you creatively?

Listening to a lot of harpsichord music and classical piano.

Can you tell me some of your all time favourite musical acts or albums?

Pink Slip from Freaky Friday.
