The bar and grill-style restaurant will close on Feb. 21.
ARLINGTON, Va. — Arlington’s Rhodeside Grill will close after 30 years in business, the restaurant announced on its Facebook page. The bar and grill in the Rosslyn neighborhood will have its last day on Saturday, Feb. 21.
Owners revealed on Thursday that the building was scheduled for a redevelopment that could not be sustained without a long-term lease — which the restaurant owners did not have.
“We’ve had to make the tough decision to move on,” the restaurant’s social media page reads.
Rhodeside Grill was opened in 1996 by Alice and H. Wilson Whitney, married restaurateurs who lived together in Falls Church. The Whitneys envisioned the spot, just off of the bustling Clarendon Boulevard, as a “cozy neighborhood hangout.”
Restaurant managers emphasized that even though they are closing, Rhodeside Grill will still be in business until the 21st, giving patrons time to visit and say their goodbyes. Among its upcoming events, Rhodeside Grill’s website has been promoting a Mardi Gras celebration on Fat Tuesday.
“Over the next 10 days, we’d love to raise a glass with you one last time. Come by, share a memory, grab a drink and help us celebrate everything that made Rhodeside Grill what it was,” restaurant owners wrote in their goodbye post. “Thank you for the laughs, the music, the cheers and all the love.”
Restaurant managers gave a list of four “sister” restaurants that regulars at Rhodeside Grill might also enjoy — all of which are in Northern Virginia.
Recommended “sister” restaurants:
- Ragtime Restaurant in Arlington
- William Jeffrey’s Tavern in Arlington
- Dogwood Tavern in Falls Church
- Bear Branch Tavern in Vienna
