Medford, L.I.: During his interview with Piers Morgan, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis took a veiled shot at former President Donald Trump, saying he would focus on real victories and not fighting people on social media, feeding into the narrative that Trump represents too much drama. There is a certain amount of truth to this accusation. There is a lot of outside noise surrounding Trump. But is it really Trump creating the drama or is he simply reacting to it?

If DeSantis becomes president — which I hope happens, in 2028 — he’s in fantasy land if he thinks he can rise above the noise and focus on “real victories.” We all know the endless barrage of false accusations and stories Trump has had to endure. After seeing how the Democrats and media savaged the George W. Bush presidency, Trump decided to take the opposite approach to “nolo contendere,” an acceptance of conviction without admitting guilt, and fought back.

The lesson DeSantis needs to learn is that a Republican president has two choices: He can either lie down and accept the false guilty verdict as Bush did and experience his approval numbers plummeting into the 20s, or he can fight back. The drawback is it can confuse people as to the true source of the drama. If DeSantis ever does become the GOP nominee and eventual president, he’s going to have a media bullseye on his back like every other Republican president and he’s going to have to choose the lesser-of-two-evils approach to deal with it. I suspect he’s going to be a fighter, as he has the best example possible in Trump. Eugene R. Dunn

Kearny, N.J.: Ron DeSantis calls the mass murder of thousands of people a territorial dispute! He almost makes Trump look good! Heaven help us if either of them win the election. Joseph F. Catrambone

Hartsdale, N.Y.: To Voicer Charles Michael Sitero: You’re not serious, right? Supporting a state run by a hate-filled person like DeSantis who lacks ethics, morals, compassion and decency says so very much about you. If we don’t teach our children the good, the bad and the ugly parts of history, how will they ever learn what is right and what is wrong so that past mistakes and behaviors are not repeated? Certainly not from parents in Florida. “Take back our education system,” you say. Look at the educational standing of your state before you criticize others. Lydia Ruth

Manhattan: Politicians depend on the short attention span of their constituents. They know that issues will eventually fall off of the radar. Republican Rep. George Santos recently plea bargained a fraud case in Brazil. There has been little coverage of this. Donald Trump, Santos, Rep. Kevin McCarthy and others have decided that ethics, civility and honesty are values not worth having. Republican voters obviously find this acceptable. What a great role model the Republican Party is for our youth. This will never make America great again. Vincent Novak

Manhattan: Because of what Audrey Hale did in Nashville, six people can no longer be referred to by their preferred adjective, “alive.” We don’t need to keep referring to her by her preferred pronouns. John Stout

Brooklyn: My heart broke when reading the article in Sunday’s Daily News about the skilled asylum seekers from Central and South America who keep hitting roadblocks as they attempt to get a job to contribute to the city (“Migrants’ job woes,” March 26). I must ask, though, why we have neglected them but so eagerly provided job fairs and other opportunities for displaced Ukrainians. Does the color of their skin have anything to do with why we treat these populations differently? Joe Ferra

Columbus, Ohio: To Voicer Robert Rundbaken: I read with humor the myriad unsubstantiated charges you hurl at Trump without any substantiation while you gloss over the Biden family “years ago,” you opine, while there are completely substantiated charges of not only the Bidens but the Big Guy receiving millions from not only China, but Hunter receiving millions from Ukrainian companies for his expertise — of which he has none. Be fair and call spades spades, no matter which side of the political spectrum they fall. But I’m certain that would be asking too much from an obviously partisan shill. Jimi Marshall

Brooklyn: Let’s put the bail question to rest once and for all. Let the victims and their families decide what bail should be applied to the suspect. Michael Castagna

Brewster, N.Y.: Does ABC News weatherman Sam Champion own a tie? All his on-camera coworkers look very professional with suits and ties. Maybe they could lend one. Perhaps he has a medical condition that prevents him from wearing a tie. I’m sure he thinks he looks very good without one. It’s true this is not a big issue to be concerned about. I just wonder. Dennis Cristiano

Ridgewood: I share Voicer Alida E. Davis’s concern about the loss of thousands of species of birds, but it’s climate change, toxic chemicals and habitat loss that are killing these creatures, not wind turbines. Killing birds has long been the province of outdoor cats. A recent study shows seabirds in Europe, where the offshore wind turbines are common, have learned to avoid them, but the structures must be designed, sited and operated to minimize their interaction with birds. Still, their overwhelmingly positive effect on the safety of all animal species motivates environmentalists to wholeheartedly support land-based and offshore wind as clean, renewable sources of power to replace the heat-trapping gases produced by continuing to burn fossil fuels. Yorktown Heights, N.Y.: Thank you for “Dogs won’t be dinner” (March 24), an article about the organization No Dogs Left Behind saving dogs from hellish meat farms. I wish farmed animals in the U.S. could be saved. Most are factory farmed — they face a seemingly endless amount of torturous procedures. Sane people agree that it’s wrong to torture animals, yet those who rescue sick and suffering animals are labelled as terrorists. We have an abundance of delicious plant-based food. Hopefully, this will reduce demand for animal products to the point where only small farms exist and so much senseless suffering can be eliminated. James Scotto

Rockville Centre, L.I.: Re “Call to strike out ‘Citi,’ “ (March 27): I had to laugh after reading this article — not because I don’t believe we need to address climate change (we absolutely do), but if the Mets did change Citi Field’s name, what exactly would that accomplish towards that end? Answer: Nothing, besides stroking Public Advocate Jumaane Williams’ ego. If he is serious about combating climate change, he really needs to stay in his lane, go back to the drawing board and come up with realistic and productive ideas instead of ridiculous publicity-seeking requests like this one. But at least he got his name in the papers, which I’m sure was the result he was looking for. Let Steve Cohen do his job and you go do yours. MaryEllen Davis

Garwood, N.J.: What the hell is wrong with CBS Channel 2 New York? Every morning between 4–7 a.m., they run ads from the MyPillow idiot. Are they that hard up for money that they need ad revenue from one of the backers of the Big Lie and a supporter of the Jan. 6 insurrection? Don’t they realize this clown is a Trump puppet who continues to spew all the Former Guy’s inciteful rhetoric, which I have no doubt will lead to more violence in this country. Who knows which militant groups Mr. Pillow is funneling his money to? I like the programming on CBS a.m. but will switch if they continue to show those ads. If CBS is that hard-up for cash, pass around the collection plate and I’ll kick in a few bucks. John Deichmeister
