Qantas Moves Up CEO Succession

Qantas CEO Alan Joyce has moved up his planned retirement by two months “to help the company accelerate its renewal,” and CFO Vanessa Hudson will step into the CEO role Sept. 6, the carrier announced Tuesday. Initially, the transition was to occur in November.

In addition, Rob Marcolina’s appointment as Qantas’ new CFO will be moved up to Sept. 6. He most recently was the carrier’s group executive of strategy, people and technology. Further, chief customer officer Markus Svensson this month will succeed the retiring Andrew David as CEO of Qantas Domestic.
