[PROMOTION] 25% Bonus Transfer to Marriott Bonvoy – Pointshogger

The Canada American Express Membership Rewards program is offering a 25% transfer bonus to Marriott Bonvoy.

Below are the highlights of how the offer works:

• Date: between October 1, 2023 until November 30, 2023
• Minimum transfer requirement: 1,000 Membership Rewards points (to a maximum of 999,900 points, then increments of 100 points thereafter
• Conversion ratio (with bonus offer): 5 American Express Membership Rewards point to 7.5 Marriot Bonvoy points (up from 6 points)
  • E.g. 1,000 Membership Rewards points = 1,500 Marriott Bonvoy points (instead of the usual 1,200 points)

Note that once Membership Rewards points have been transferred to Marriott Bonvoy, they cannot be transferred back. Transfers can take up to 48 hours to be completed.

Personally I plan to do the transfer closer to the end of the promotion, so that it gives me more time to earn Membership Rewards points.

On a side note, Marriott has taken a big hit lately considering the devaluation of their rewards program. It costs so many points to redeem for a free hotel night these days. Therefore, having this transfer bonus makes it a little less painful to redeem for a free night. It is harder to justify transferring based on the regular ratios of 5 to 6. I would definitely only transfer Membership Rewards points during such a bonus event. so I am very grateful to see this offer come up!
