Global apparel retail chain Primark has opened a new store at the Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream.

The 35,000-square-foot store is Primark’s second on Long Island. The chain, which offers apparel for women, men and kids, as well as beauty, homeware and accessories, opened a 44,290-square-foot store at Roosevelt Field in Garden City last November.

“Shoppers on Long Island have loved our store at Roosevelt Field Mall, and we are excited to spread the ‘Primania’ with this opening at Green Acres,” Kevin Tulip, president of Primark US, said in a company statement. “We’ve seen a real appetite for quality fashion at affordable prices from U.S. shoppers, and we’re ready to continue our growth plans to 60 stores, with more to come this summer. We can’t wait to welcome the community surrounding Green Acres Mall into our store for all the festivities this weekend and for many visits in the future.”

Primark’s opening weekend at Green Acres kicked off on Thursday, June 22 with the store ribbon cutting. The weekend will feature a spin-to-win game for prizes, music from DJ Nicole Otero and giveaways to participating shoppers on a first-come-first-served basis. Customers sampled black-and-white cookies from Vin’s Bake House, on opening day and can enjoy donuts from Doughology on Friday and ices from Andy’s Italian Ices food truck on Saturday in the Primark parking lot.

Founded in 1969 as Penneys in Dublin, Ireland, the chain still operates 36 stores there under that original name. Primark now has more than 425 stores across the United Kingdom, Europe and North America. Its new Green Acres Mall location is Primark’s 18th in the U.S., where it plans to grow to 60 stores by 2026.
