PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The longest number of consecutive days in the 90s is expected around Portland later this week.
A six-day stretch of 90-degree heat is expected to start in Portland on Thursday and will last through Tuesday of next week. The previous hot stretch of dangerous heat was felt just earlier this month when Portland sat at 99 degrees for three consecutive days.
The last time Portland saw close to this many consecutive days in the 90s was in 2022, from July 24 to July 31, when there were nine straight days in the 90s. The longest stretch of consecutive 90-degree days was recorded in 2009 from July 25 to August 3 with a total of 10 days.
This latest round of high heat isn’t expected to break any consecutive heat records, but it could break daily heat records come Friday and Saturday.
Stay with the KOIN 6 Weather Team as the potentially dangerous heat return to the Pacific Northwest.
