CHICAGO (WGN) — Oak Brook-based Portillo’s on Tuesday announced a change in leadership, “effective immediately.”
CEO and president Michael Osanloo will transition to a role of special adviser to the new interim chief executive officer, Michael A. Miles, Jr., after seven years at the helm.
“Leading Portillo’s has been one of the great honors of my career,” Osanloo stated. “I am so thankful to my leadership team and all our team members whose hard work and heart make this brand iconic. Together, we achieved so much, and I will always carry immense pride in having been part of the Portillo’s family.”
Osanloo will stay on in the role for three months.
Miles previously served as president and chief operating officer of Staples and chief operating officer of Pizza Hut with Yum! Brands.
Portillo’s Board of Directors said it is actively searching for a permanent replacement.
Crain’s Chicago reports that a hedge fund investor in the company has been pushing for changes at the restaurant chain.
