A heavy police presence can be seen in the area of Liberia Avenue and Bayberry Avenue.

MANASSAS, Va. — There is a heavy police presence near Liberia Avenue and Bayberry Avenue in Manassas Friday night.

Manassas City Police confirmed at 8:04 p.m. that they are currently on the scene of a barricade situation at a single-family home in the 9200 block of Bayberry Avenue. 

It began as a “shots fired” call. It then escalated into multiple shots fired from inside of the home. When officers arrived the suspect began shooting at police. 

No officers were injured. 

Nearby residents have been evacuated to a safe location and police have the surrounding area blocked off. 

Police are asking residents to avoid the area and stay inside their homes unless directed otherwise by officials. 

This is an active investigation, WUSA9 will update you when more details become available.
