IMPACTS. IT’S ON OUR KCRA 3 APP RIGHT NOW. LODI POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING THE DEATH OF A BABY WHOSE BODY WAS FOUND LATE THIS MORNING. AN EMPLOYEE OF A NEARBY BUSINESS CALLED POLICE AFTER FINDING THAT BABY’S BODY THAT WAS IN THE PARKING LOT OF A BUSINESS ON SACRAMENTO STREET NEAR TOKAY STREET. KCRA 3’S PEYTON HEADLEY IS LIVE FOR US IN OUR NEWSROOM. AFTER TALKING TO THOSE EMPLOYEES, AND THEY SAY IT WAS A SUPER EMOTIONAL DAY FOR THEM AND THAT THEY IMMEDIATELY CALLED 911 ONCE THEY REALIZED WHAT HAD HAPPENED. BUT STILL, THEY HAVE A LOT OF QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW AND WHY THAT BABY ENDED UP THERE. AND WE DO WANT TO WARN YOU, SOME OF THE DETAILS ARE HARD TO HEAR. IT’S HARD FOR SYLVIA GONZALEZ TO DESCRIBE HOW IT FELT WHEN SHE FOUND THE BODY OF A BABY. I WANT TO CRY. SHE DIDN’T WANT TO SHOW HER FACE, BUT SAYS HER COWORKER FIRST SPOTTED THE BODY WHILE HE WAS TAKING HIS LUNCH BREAK JUST AFTER 1130 THURSDAY MORNING. BUT WHEN HE TRIED TO SIT DOWN ON THE FLOOR, HE TURNED AROUND AND HE SEE THE BABY. SHE SAYS HE RAN BACK INSIDE FOR HELP. THAT’S WHEN GONZALEZ WENT OUTSIDE. WHEN I SEE IT, I JUST TRY TO SEE IF THEY MOVE OR NOT. BUT I DON’T SEE NOTHING. SHE SAYS THE BABY DIDN’T LOOK TO BE ANY OLDER THAN A FEW HOURS. I SEE EVERYTHING, YOU KNOW. IT’S TOO HARD TO SEE THE PLACENTA, TO SEE THE BABY LIKE IT’S HARD. SURVEILLANCE VIDEO FROM THIS CAMERA SHOWS A WOMAN WALKING INTO THIS PARKING LOT AND LAYING DOWN IN THE SPOT WHERE THE BODY WAS FOUND, AROUND 730 ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT. SHE STAYED THERE FOR ABOUT FIVE HOURS, LEAVING JUST BEFORE 3 A.M. EMPLOYEES WATCHED THAT SURVEILLANCE VIDEO AND SAY THE NEXT TIME ANYONE WAS NEAR THAT AREA WAS AT 11:40 A.M. WHEN LODI POLICE ARRIVED TO THE SCENE, THEY CLOSED EVERYTHING THEY CAN AMBULANCE AND THEY COME. EVERYBODY. AS POLICE CONTINUE THEIR INVESTIGATION, GONZALEZ HOPES IT WILL MEAN ANSWERS ON HOW THIS BABY ENDED UP ON THE STREET. IT’S SO HARD. IT’S SAD TO SEE THAT. AND THIS IS STILL A VERY ACTIVE INVESTIGATION. POLICE HAVE NOT RELEASED ANY MORE INFORMATION THAN THAT. SO THEY ARE ASKING FOR THE PUBLIC’S HELP. IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING, GET IN TOUCH WITH THE LODI POLICE DEPARTMENT IN THE NEWSROOM.
