Police chase through Philly ends with Pa. trooper’s car smashing into pickup truck

A police pursuit involving a Pennsylvania State trooper and a truck ended with a violent crash in Philadelphia’s Spring Garden neighborhood on Tuesday.

The crash happened near the intersection of Orianna and Spring Garden streets around Noon on Oct. 14 and left behind shards of glass from the shattered back window of the black-colored truck with New Jersey plates.

The Pennsylvania State Police patrol car was left smashed into the side of the truck which was missing a tire along with a broken back passenger window.

“That looks like it was a pretty hot chase. This is usually a pretty calm area so we don’t see that every day but you never know what could happen,” neighbor Leah Friedman said.

No one was hurt but the crash happened near a busy shopping center and residents who frequent the area said they feared that this could have ended worse.

‘I thank God I wasn’t walking by at the moment,” witness Sweeney Burgos said.

Philadelphia police detained a man at the scene and officials had the area shut down briefly to investigate.

No word yet on why the trooper was chasing the black truck or where the chase started.
