Pedestrian killed after hit-and-run crash on Little River Turnpike in Fairfax County

Police say the driver left the scene in a dark-colored sedan.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — A pedestrian was killed on Wednesday morning after a hit-and-run crash in Fairfax County.

Police say Christopher Young, 34, was crossing Little River Turnpike at Shelley Lane was he was hit by an unknown driver. That is not far from Northern Virginia Community College and Pleasant Valley Memorial Park. 

Young was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead shortly after. 

The driver fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan. The crash happened at 7:02 a.m. 

The eastbound lanes of Little River Turnpike at Wakefield Chapel Road were closed for the investigation. Fairfax County Police said all lanes were back open to traffic by 10:30 a.m.
