Pedestrian dies after he was hit by vehicle in Rancho Cordova

The Rancho Cordova man, 52, died from the crash on Folsom Boulevard; the driver did not appear to be intoxicated and cooperated with investigators, authorities said.

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. — A pedestrian died after a crash Saturday in Rancho Cordova, authorities said.

Cory Donald Swope, 52, of Rancho Cordova, died from a motor vehicle accident along the 11000 block of Folsom Boulevard, according to Sacramento County Coroner’s Office records.

The driver who struck Swope remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation, according to Rancho Cordova Police Department spokesman Sgt. Amar Gandhi. They did not appear to be intoxicated, authorities said.

The crash happened Saturday night between Mercantile Drive and Mine Shaft Lane, Gandhi said.
