Passersby help crash victims out of cars in Placer County

A Toyota and a Lexus collided for unknown reasons Sunday morning on Baseline Road, west of Watt Avenue, authorities said.

PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — Passersby helped crash victims out of their cars Sunday morning in Placer County, authorities said.

A Toyota Prius and a Lexus LS 460 collided for unknown reasons around 7:45 a.m. on Baseline Road, west of Watt Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol

The CHP said each car was occupied by a solo driver, and both suffered suspected major injuries. They were helped out of their respective vehicles by passersby, per law enforcement.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital, authorities said.

DUI is not suspected, and as of Sunday officials said the crash’s cause was under investigation.
