Miley Cyrus dropped ‘Flowers’ on January 12th and it has truly altered our brain chemistry for good. The song has seen huge success, garnering an impressive 115 million streams on Spotify and breaking its own record for the most streams in a single week. We have no choice but to stan!

As well as being an absolute bop, Miley’s addictive new single is also a self-care anthem, championing self-love and independence. So, we have selected three of our favorite lyrics from ‘Flowers’ that make us feel empowered!

It’s official 🚨 The record has been broken by @MileyCyrus herself on January 26, making #Flowers the most streamed song in a single week in Spotify history. https://t.co/7xNld1n5ZV

“Talk to myself for hours // Say things you don’t understand”

In this lyric, Miley is discussing how she can spend time alone and understand herself in a way her former partner could not. This is because she knows herself very well and is perfectly comfortable being in her own company, despite questioning if this kind of alone time would be possible during the pre-chorus. Being content and happy in your own company is hugely empowering, and we think that everybody needs to follow in Miley’s footsteps.

“No remorse, no regret // I forgive every word you said

Despite clearly being hurt by the breakup, Miley is still able to move on and forgive her ex-partner for the hurt they caused. In these lyrics, she is letting go of the words they said to her to move on from the situation and heal herself. She is also able to acknowledge the good parts of the relationship still and feels no ‘remorse’ or ‘regret’ for loving her ex-partner. This demonstrates her emotional growth and reinforces the importance of having self-love even in the face of adversity. By taking control of how the break-up affects her, Miley is able to empower herself and prioritize her own happiness.

Celebrating “Flowers” being #1 around the world again this week! I love that this record is connecting in such a positive way & it’s a pleasure to continue creating music for you. These milestones are only made possible by the listeners & my incredible fans. Endlessly thankful. https://t.co/fuA2DvU324

“I can love me better, baby”

This lyric perfectly captures the entire vibe of the song and Miley’s upcoming album, as Endless Summer Vacation is set to showcase Miley at her strongest in both a mental and physical sense. Here, Miley is expressing her ability to love herself better than anyone else can, showing her self-care journey. Being able to love yourself is the highest form of empowerment, and it ultimately allows Miley to let go of the past and become her best self. We love self-care-era Miley!
