My client had a business idea that sat in her head for months.
She had the skills, the timing, and everything she needed to make it happen.
Everything except one thing.

Why Your Best Ideas Stay Stuck in Your Head
Hey Goal Crusher, welcome to Ask Coach Tony.
For the next month, we will be focusing on the solo versus symphony approach to your goal journey.
In the solo approach, you’re on your own with your goals. Every note, every beat, every step of the journey relies on you and you alone.
On the other hand, when you treat your goals as a symphony, your goal journey harmonizes with a full orchestra of supporters.
I know which one sounds better to me.
Throughout this month, let’s talk about why and how the symphony approach works, and then we will work together in our next Goal Crusher Coffee Chat to help you get started writing your goal symphony.
In today’s Ask Coach Tony, I am going to share a story of the symphony effect in action. This story will illustrate one subtle, underestimated mental shift that happens when you stop treating your goals like a solo.
My Client’s Symphony Experience
This is a story of a former client whom we will call Kate.
Kate had a fantastic idea for a new business venture. She’d been thinking about it for quite some time. She knew what she wanted. She was fully capable of building her new venture. Plus, the timing was perfect to launch it.
Kate knew exactly what the next step was; she needed to get her ideas on paper so she could build a plan. Unfortunately, Kate’s business venture still only existed in her head.
Kate had tried everything else, so she called me to help turn her solo goal into a symphony.
By our first meeting, the ideas were out of her head, onto paper and a whiteboard. We used our session to walk through a plan that hadn’t existed just a few days before.
Then, a few short weeks later, Kate launched her successful new venture.
Back Burner Syndrome
What was the magic unlock for Kate and her goal?
By expanding her solo journey into a symphony, she conquered a common high-achiever obstacle. High achievers tend to prioritize delivering results for other people above everything else.
They are dependable. They deliver. And they go to great lengths to protect that reputation.
But that also means they tend to put their own goals on the back burner so they can deliver for others. When repeated over and over again, their goals never get the attention needed to bring them to life.
When Kate reached out to me, her business venture goal quickly moved from the back burner back to the top of the priority list. She wasn’t just letting herself down anymore; someone else was going to see it.
This is one of the most underestimated benefits of expanding your goal to a symphony instead of a solo. The subtle mental shift of having other people involved changes everything.
Welcome to the Symphony
Are you ready to experience this subtle mental shift?
The easiest way to get started building your symphony is to choose someone you trust and share your goal with them. That’s it. No big process, tool, or five-step structure. Just get started and tell someone.
After telling one person, your next step is to continue intentionally building your support system. As I explain in Project Manage Your Life:
The best support systems are intentional. Surround yourself with people who challenge and inspire you, not those who drain your energy or discourage you.

A Morning at the Symphony
Are you treating your goals like a solo when they are really a symphony?
As this week’s Ask Coach Tony illustrated, big goals aren’t achieved alone. They need a team.
In our next Goal Crusher Coffee Chat, we will start building your team together to help get you to the finish line.
In this session, I will open up my Coach’s Notebook and share the practices that work best for my clients when they build their goal-crushing teams.
Then, in our informal roundtable discussion, we will each answer one simple question:
What’s one goal you’ve been playing solo that could use a little harmony?
If you’re ready to stop playing solo and make a beautiful goal-crushing symphony, this event is for you.

Most of your ideas don’t need more time, more research, or more willpower. They need another person to see them. If your own goal has been sitting on the back burner while you take care of everyone else’s, the fastest way off isn’t a bigger plan. It’s telling someone.
Your goals deserve better than that. And so do you.
You’re here for a reason. Let’s take the next step.
