One person is dead after being struck twice by a vehicle in Sacramento

(FOX40.COM) — One person has been reported dead after being struck by two vehicles on Sunday evening in Sacramento, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

The police said that around 6:30 p.m., officers responded to the area of Del Paso and Marysville Boulevard after receiving reports of a hit-and-run crash. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a pedestrian lying in the roadway.

SPD said the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by two vehicles. The first vehicle fled the scene before police arrived, but the second vehicle remained on the scene.

Sacramento police stated its detectives from its Major Collision Investigation Unit and CSI responded to the scene to take over the investigation and are canvassing the area for potential witnesses.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after the next of kin have been notified, police said.

At this time, authorities said the intersection will be closed as this is an active investigation.
