“Preliminary investigation indicates a Ford Mustang traveling southbound crossed the double-yellow lines while attempting an illegal pass of a Toyota Highlander, colliding head-on with a Honda HR-V traveling northbound,” CHP said. “The impact caused the Toyota to spin off the roadway after being struck on the left side.”
A passenger in the Honda was killed in the crash. The driver of the Honda and the driver of the Mustang suffered major injuries. The six people in the Toyota were not injured.
The driver of the Mustang was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, CHP said.
