PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — October is starting off cool, wet and windy for much of western Oregon and southwest Washington.
Scattered rain showers will make it feel like October in the Pacific Northwest as temperatures sit in the mid to upper 60s for afternoon highs. A few cloud breaks are expected as winds could gust close to 20 mph from the south around the Willamette Valley.
Rain showers will remain in the forecast through the day on Thursday. That’s where nearly a quarter inch to a half inch of rain is possible in some areas. Temperatures will be cold enough to bring the snow elevation level down to 6,000.’
No snow accumulation is expected to impact roads or populated areas. However, the peak of Mt. Hood and many of Oregon and Washington’s high mountain peaks will find themselves with a light dusting of snow.

Skies will slowly dry as temperatures warm by the weekend. Afternoon highs are expected to be greater than the new average of the upper 60s and low 70s for this time of year.
